RE: Sections

edit

Actually I divided them into sections because then it would be easier to vote, and also avoid from edit conflicts. Maybe the user you mentioned got to modify his automated edit summary and then go and split into sections... --Edmund the King of the Woods! 23:58, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK I'm going to ask him. Then the election will be fair - just imagine if voter A support, then he/she/it has edit conflict with voter B who oppose... --Edmund the King of the Woods! 00:01, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, only experienced Wikimedians can vote, but the problem is not here. I'm just afraid that someone may play trick and then... --Edmund the King of the Woods! 00:21, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Checkuser-user

edit

I am now likely to go through checkuser voting on huwiki. Is it possible to create a separate user (a "sockpuppet") just for having the checkuser rights? This would be useful for password safety reasons. I use my account often, and from public computers as well as from home. CU is not for everyday use. Gabriel Beecham

edit

Arno Lagrange  21:00, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

As an admin of the eo Wikipedia, I would like to add another voice to Arno's. Cacao/Kakao has been on our Wiki for less than a week, has done minor nonsensical vandalism to the main discussion page. We have two very active stewards who treat issues like granting and revoking of sysop rights. It is generally a task left up to the community as stated in our policy. A single user who has been on one week does not speak for the community. If you have any future issues dealing with EO:WP, please contact Arno or me. I ask that you restore Gabriel's sysop rights. -- Yekrats 21:14, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I am withdrawing my request, but in the future I ask that you be much more careful. You let a troll (who has only been active in Wikipedia a week) select statements out of our policy to trick you into revoking Gabriel's sysop rights. What should have happened is: He should have gone to the community, and the community should have discussed it and possibly revoked it. Yes, we use the word aŭtomate, but what Kakao did not tell you about was the clause right after that "At the request of the Wikipedia community". There was certainly no consensus of the Wikipedia community.
My point is: If you do not speak a language, you should be much more careful about granting or revoking rights in that Wikipedia!!! Certainly, you should check with the community there first. What you did was wrong. In the future, if you ever have a question about the EO:WP, you can generally bring it up in the Diskutejo in your preferred language and generally someone will answer your question soon. -- Yekrats 23:07, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Revoking Gabriel's rights should sound right. The big problem is how it has been done. Cacao has none legitimity to talk for esperanto wikipedia community and steward should check that before revoking rights. Arno Lagrange  21:32, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Confirmations

edit

Sorry, I couldn't help but notice this, which seems to imply that bureaucrats' opinions or votes carry more weight than those of "ordinary" users. Surely bureaucrats are not elected to elect admins (or remove them) but rather to determine whether the community wants someone to be an admin (or have it removed)?! Your opinions should have been voiced at Meta:Administrators/confirm already - your job as a bureaucrat is to weigh up the opinions found there - not have a bureaucrat-vote to see what the bureaucrats want. Please reconsider what you're doing here, as it's improper, IMO.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:22, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
