This is to inform you that in the last Catalan wikipedia meeting several attendants commented they had received a lot of complains because of the fund raising tests in Spanish.
People reading Catalan wikipedia are expecting to access a Catalan site. Putting the banners in Spanish not only reduces the likelihood of raising funds but also produces an ugly image of the project that can end up in a lose of our more valuable asset: our editors.
If you need translators for the messages please don't hesitate to ask for them in the Catalan wikipedia village pump. You can write there in English. But please avoid using messages in foreign languages in the site notices.
- Hi Gomà,
- Thanks for bringing this to our attention! The banners you saw were part of a test, and we don't plan to show Spanish language banners on Catalan Wikipedia during the fundraiser. I apologize if there was any confusion generated from this test. Thanks again! Jvandavier (talk) 23:29, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
