'Old' steward stats edit

I think I'm fairly close to figuring out a way to handle calculating actions per day for all stewards using ParserFunctions :) This also would mean that I could take a quick "snapshot" of the situation at the time of the reconfirmations next year and build up a "since last confirmation" feature from that time onwards :) Snowolf How can I help? 14:39, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yep - it is watchlisted :) Useful thanks --Herby talk thyme 14:52, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
The stats for the standard stewards (that is, stewards that didn't have interruptions in their terms) are in, tho I'm about to break it all again so figured I'd let you know so you can check the data so far for what it's worth. Still have to fix the sorting too Snowolf How can I help? 15:35, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
The table is now done :) Snowolf How can I help? 15:56, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes - I think that is useful. Thanks for the work :) --Herby talk thyme 15:59, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
No problem, I managed to not realize that all actions from before 2009-09-25 (or some other day after the 15th, not sure) aren't being picked up by Quentin's tool and so I've revised the table: now all of the stewards that became stewards before that date are listed as having become stewards on that day. Same goes for the Former stewards :) Snowolf How can I help? 20:30, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

OTRS edit

Hi. We've been trying to cut down on the number of generic "support!" or "oppose" comments. What we'd really like are diffs/examples/things that would be helpful to us in determining on whether somebody would be suitable on the OTRS team. I'll have something posted on the talk page there sometime today hopefully - for clarification to everybody. Sorry for any confusion. Rjd0060 (talk) 15:09, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry if you were offended by this but it has been a long standard practice for the page. Even dating back to when I was an OTRS admin in 2009. As I said, we'll clarify something on the talk page in due time. Rjd0060 (talk) 15:13, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Re: Well put edit

Heh I hadn't seen it yet when you poked me, and I have replied there (my faithful irc watchbots keep me up to date as to what happens on pages of interest to me, but I hadn't checked the channel yet). The whole thing's sad to me, it's the third time in the last month that I've run into a similar issue (people with the mindset of the Cathedral rather than the Bazaar -- and it's not like I don't see the benefits of a Cathedral model in some cases, just it seems to me it's the opposite of what this wiki system of ours is). "Nothing to say" edit

Hi Herby, there were some new spambots on Meta and Commons today. If you have the time, could you please take a look at these accounts?

Kind regards, Mathonius (talk) 07:36, 26 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'd already checked a couple and the others would have been part of the daily routine. Reviewed anyway. --Herby talk thyme 08:28, 26 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi edit

Enjoy your wikibreak. I hope it is not for something bad. Best regards, -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 13:07, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Re: Userpage spam edit

I know, it might be pointless, but I prefer replacing the block with the warning (while awaiting for a block), instead of doing nothing. Different points of view. Regards, --Frigotoni ...i'm here; 15:47, 23 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

CU edit

I've just made it impossible for you to change your mind, even if you wanted to  . Of course, I hope anyone intelligent can tell the difference between obsequious flattery and true respect. Thank you, Herby! -- Avi (talk) 17:08, 28 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Strange things edit

I haven't seen something like this before... Mathonius (talk) 05:20, 15 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

The basic page in either form is a daily issue on Commons but I've not seen the page changed like that before. Most annoying is at least one edit should have been caught by the filter so I need to check that out next. --Herby talk thyme 07:14, 15 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Could you... edit

...check this spambot for me please (or maybe you already did it): OlgaQTHJ (talk · contribs). Thanks. Trijnsteltalk 09:44, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

ntsamr edit

have been getting reasonable hit rate, and have been expanding the filter. If you can think of an easy way to mark in the block those that got their rubbish through it would be great, and I will follow up and update, and grab the urls. — billinghurst sDrewth 13:37, 31 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

thinking - do you mean "me" making it in my block logs? --Herby talk thyme 14:41, 31 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

If that is what you were after blocks are now tagged accordingly here and elsewhere. --Herby talk thyme 08:00, 1 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

somehow somewhere, if we are getting enough, might worth adding as a dropdown. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:56, 1 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
only really looking for when they got passed my spam filters, not when captured/stopped them, as those I can read from the filters. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:59, 1 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Changing the block reason is easy enough. Mostly the ones I see getting past filters are on mw & en wb. --Herby talk thyme 10:04, 1 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Placed it at MW. It is already at WB, so interesting that it is getting through there. I will look when less tired. — billinghurst sDrewth 15:37, 1 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

User_talk:114.246.69.174 edit

I see you blocked this IP locally on Meta, and Quentinv57 blocked it globally, so can you review this unblock request? Thanks. PiRSquared17 (talk) 01:51, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Err - nope - no entries at all in the block log on Meta so not blocked by anyone here. --Herby talk thyme 07:17, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Err... does rangeblock sound familiar? Special:BlockList/114.246.69.174 :P PiRSquared17 (talk) 13:16, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Weird - that didn't come up! Looks to me as tho I was responding to the global block (stewards usually forget that Meta is not affected by gblocks...) though equally I'm guessing there were spambots on the /24 range here on Meta (the only way I would have found out anything about it. Equally highly unlikely it is someone's home IP address given no rDNS info. Personally I have no issues with that IP address being unblocked (AGF) - it can easily be reblocked if bot accounts come back though I cannot do anything about the gblock. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 13:35, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

File:Kohs with MyWikiBiz screen.jpg edit

Hi. You deleted File:Kohs with MyWikiBiz screen.jpg in May 2010 with the reason "Off topic for Meta/Unlicensed".

As far as I can tell, the uploader released the image under a license in 2009. "By uploading this file to which I hold the copyright, I agree to license it under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, but not the Creative Commons CC-BY-XX licenses."

And as far as I can tell, the image has a number of uses on this wiki (in Board elections pages from 2009).

Consequently, I couldn't see a reason to speedily delete the image, so I've restored the image for now. Feel free to move the image to Commons and/or start a deletion discussion here. --MZMcBride (talk) 00:17, 10 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

You seem to have the time to deal with this and, as I explained on Commons, I do not. We will agree to differ on the deletion. I'm sure you will sort it out. --Herby talk thyme 15:42, 10 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I thanked you on Commons, but you certainly also deserves it here. So, thanks. Hopefully you'll come back some day. Trijnsteltalk 10:44, 12 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I think it's sad to see you leave, Herby, I'm surprised that you've decided to retire. I respect your decision, but I also hope you'll return one day. I've really enjoyed working with you. Thanks for everything! Mathonius (talk) 23:17, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
