error: removing one { immediately after filename edit

In this edit the bot wrongly removed one { immediately after filename from "{{!}}border" which caused its {{Infobox}} to be corrupted. FæɹHaad (talk) 04:19, 19 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Same with a < character at w:Special:Diff/1094793386. Ping @Grin. ~~~~

@FæɹHaad: If you do not ping me in, I will not see you message.
@1234qwer1234qwer4: thanks, I'll check it! grin 17:45, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@FæɹHaad: @1234qwer1234qwer4: I believe both problem (which were the same) have been fixed. One check had to be rewritten due to non-latin alphabets (mainly fawiki above ;-)) but accidentally it included one character after the word in some cases; now it shall behave correctly. Thanks for the report! --grin 18:24, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Blocked on Ks Wiki edit

This is to let the operators of this bot to know that the bot has been blocked on Ks Wikipedia till the malfunctioning of this bot is fixed. The bot is breaking template. Kindly have a look at it as soon as possible. 511KeV (talk) 08:11, 18 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Just a sidenote: if you neither link a problem nor describe it it is completely impossible to fix, and will not happen by magic. grin 17:43, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
It may have been related to the issue above? You will never know, unless you unban the bot, and maybe tell me what the problem was. grin 18:25, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
I missed to reply, Sorry for that. The bot is un banned on Kswiki and working correctly now. I had created a ticket on the linked bitbucket previously. 511KeV (talk) 02:48, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Bot violates the skwiki rules edit

The user CommonsDelinker is a bot but this user is not in the group bot or he is not as global bot. Dušan Kreheľ (talk) 19:30, 28 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

What is your proposed solution? (It is obviously a bot.) grin 09:31, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

We need a tool to mass revet mistaken deletions edit

@Grin: Occasionally, images get restored (you know, commons:Commons:Undeletion requests for example). But in this case the damage (delinking accross numerous projects) is done and has to be reverted manually. Which is a PITA. We need a way to report this to this bot (or a cleanup bot) who will revert such edits. It shouldn't be hard to code something that will check CommonsDelinker log for a partcular file, and then revert it or generate a list of pages in case of manual conflicts. This problem was previously reported and sadly ignored here (ping User:H-stt, User:MCruz (WMF)). Here's hoping my report, pinging the current maintainer, will generate some reply. Piotrus (talk) 12:58, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

This is not a happy task; as it would require a completely new "restore" framework. Since I happened to have created the "restore bot" it is definitely not impossible, but it is a bit risky and would require some way to verify authority, possibly as an admins-only protected request page. Also I need to test it not to cause too much harm. But… it has a good chance to be created.
Let me think about it, I try to test around and see whether it can be done without much pain. :-)
Plan:
  • bot reads a page containing undeletes;
  • reverts changes where the page wasn't changed since;
  • puts the page in a [possibly date prefixed sub]page if conflicts have detected.
grin 09:37, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Grin Tnx for getting back to me. I hope we can get this to work. The errors are not very common but they do happen. I am sure this will be a welcome tool at Uneletion requests. The only 'hard' part will be dealing with cases where automatic reverts don't work (i.e. where the attempt to undo the edit produces some conflict requiring a human to check it) and we need someone to go and see what is the problem and handle it manually. Oh well, the work keeps piling up, what's new... still, even getting a log of pages from which a file was removed will be nice. I came here from Commons:Undeletion_requests/Current_requests#File:1920_-_before_the_storm.jpg, and I know those images were used on several wikis on several pages, but I remember only a few uses. Trying to restore the damage manually is a major pain. Piotrus (talk) 10:02, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Grin Any progress on this? Piotrus (talk) 07:57, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately not yet, but reminding me helps. I try to pull it higher on my todo list! grin 08:22, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Grin Just checking :) Maybe we could take this to a village pump or such to get help? Piotrus (talk) 04:10, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

space after delinking edit

@Grin:Hallo, nach der Entlinkung ist die Formatierung der Seite verändert, da der Delinker ein Leerzeichen am Zeilenanfang hinterlässt. Könnte man das irgendwie vermeiden. Hoefler50 (talk) 07:45, 5 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Interessant. Ich kann im Moment nicht erkennen, warum das passiert, ich werde das überprüfen. Danke. grin 09:42, 5 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
(translation: Hello, after delinking, the formatting of the page is changed because the delinker leaves a space at the beginning of the line. Could this be avoided somehow.)

edit

Why was the Fallen Journalists Memorial Foundation logo removed? I have the proper authorization. Where can I provide that authorization? @Grin:76.93.54.12 20:05, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I do not know. Also see this big red highlighted notice. Also see the one on the top of the page. Then check the deletion discussion of the image. Thanks for your understanding. grin 08:26, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Chassis_Ground.svg edit

@Grin: Please stop doing this. The file rename was undone some time ago and the edit to this article was already undone once. The replacement in this article makes an utter mess, so you should consider reverting any other replacements you have made of this file. SpinningSpark 12:40, 8 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please understand that this is a bot, not a human, and it cannot read and interpret the page history. The file has been moved and the bot acted on that, and cannot be aware that someone did something related to this, either updating or reverting.
Unfotunately there has been a period when the bot was not able to perform its duties so on the specific day you mentioned it was processing its backlog. The bot re-checks the page and realises when someone manually have done what it's intend to do but unfortunately cannot know that someone have changed, then someone else have reverted that, only see that "the job's not done yet" and does it.
Normally either there is short time between actions (so nobody has the time to revert) or a reverted action gets removed from the bot queue. I guess in this case both of these were failed so you have seen the changes you mentioned. But I believe this will not happen in the future, and usually it doesn't (and in any case I cannot really prevent it any way). I am sorry if it have caused some confusion or disturbance, and thank you for reverting the problematic change. --grin 12:36, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Update edit

I have updated the code to fix the problems listed since the last round. It includes a few largish changes:

  1. The bot now removes the whole line if it only contains the link to be removed (it have left one space before)
  2. The bot tries not to leave space at the end of the line when removing a link (it haven't caused a problem, but anyway). There may be cases when it still leaves a space behind, it should not cause harm, unless reported otherwise.
  3. Galleries with closing gallery tag at the end of a line with description are now kept.
  4. Along with these I have extended the tests verifying correct operation after updates.

Until next time. --grin 16:08, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Wrong Delete edit

Dear CommonsDelinker!

You wrongly and unlawfully deleted the logo of Misi YT between 2019 and 2021, thereby undermining the ten-year history of Mihály Tirpák and Misi YT. I made the emblem and take this into account next time.

Thank you in advance for your reply. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by misiyt17 (talk)
