WMF has decided Outreach-wiki is going to be imported to Meta, as well as that the newsletters are made more user friendly (which would include change in the used templates/etc). I am helping in this process and would like to use a bot to add/fix categories of these pages, add/fix templates on these pages, and as the GLAM newsletter is going to be imported as well (of which I am the publisher), in the publication process I use a bot to assemble two pages (as that is manually too tedious to do). As I would like to be able to keep publishing the newsletter and want to make sure it works properly after the import, I would like to request a botflag for Meta. --Romaine (talk) 10:09, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- Question: Where was that decision made? When it is supposed to be effective? Honestly, I'd expect such a change to be noted at meta itself, and by quickly checking few pages, I can't find such discussion (or at least an announcement) anywhere on Meta.
- Setting the decision-making process concerns aside, no issue with you having a bot here -- after all, it's apparently operating at several wikis, so you definitely have enough experience in operating a bot. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 14:02, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Martin Urbanec, Basically there are two communities active on Outreach wiki: education and GLAM. A few years ago the GLAM program leaders of the affiliates had a meeting in Paris where this topic already was discussed. The conclusion was that moving to Meta would not be an issue and is fine. In March of 2021 there was also a discussion among the Wikipedia & Education User Group. So within the GLAM and education communities there is agreement. Now WMF takes this move in hand and has decided to go for it. At the moment there is not yet a on-wiki decision posted so far I know, but your question for this has been noted, I suspect one will be posted soon on Babel.
- The first pages are expected to be moved next week. The moving has been split up in multiple groups, one is the education newsletter, a second the GLAM newsletter, and further the other pages. All pages are expected to be moved soon, but certainly this year. Preparations are ongoing. Romaine (talk) 22:54, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
