कन्हाई प्रसाद चौरसिया edit

Not ending before 10 May 2023 17:20 (UTC)

Hello! I'm Kanhai. I have been an active user since 2019. I usually spend time on Meta-Wiki. I will help the community in the fight against vandalism and clean up. There has been some deletion, some vandalism, and some translation. I read the meta policy. I will always be active and do my duty. And if I need help, I won't hesitate to ask for your advice. Thank you--कन्हाई प्रसाद चौरसिया (talk) 17:20, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Question Question: Hi कन्हाई प्रसाद चौरसिया thanks for offering your help! We usually expect potential Meta admins to demonstrate sufficient experience e.g. from holding administrator rights or similar advanced permissions at other projects. Did you have such rights in the past (currently you don't according to CentralAuth)? What makes you confident that you have the necessary experience? --Johannnes89 (talk) 06:34, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Johannnes89 ji,Thank you for your question. I've been on Wikipedia for four years and have learned a lot. I've always been enthusiastic about doing my part. I've made significant contributions to MetaWiki and a few other wikis. I've worked as an administrator at Hindi Wiktionary and am familiar with Wikipedia's admin standards and responsibilities, which can be found here. Even without admin privileges, I handle resources extremely wisely, so it is unavoidable that I will use admin rights responsibly as well. For many years, I have been interested in reverting vandalism, developing pages, and participating in conversations on MetaWiki. I've been observing existing administrators' work and have learned a lot.-- कन्हाई प्रसाद चौरसिया (talk) 09:55, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I took a closer look at your hindi wiktionary adminship. It seems like you ran unsucessfully for interface admin [1] with criticism about blocking IPs indefinitely and deleting pages without giving any reason. The second request for interface admin at hindi wiktionary [2] got declined due to canvassing and your reelection shortly before your temporary adminship ended [3] was opposed as well.
I too cannot understand some of your admin actions, e.g. why you protected several MediaWiki pages which only admins can edit anyway [4], why you blocked an IP several months after one nonsense edit [5] or why you indefinitely blocked another IP [6]. This speedy deletion request [7] of your user talk page seems strange to me as well, most projects follow principles like en:WP:DELTALK. Sorry but I'm not really convinced that you actually have the necessary experience. Johannnes89 (talk) 10:36, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As you mentioned, my request for an interface administrator at Hindi Wiktionary was denied. I confess I made a mistake, but I will never be able to forget it. This will be remembered for the rest of my life. When will I be able to prove my point? The second time, I was accused of canvassing for votes on the request, which was completely false because all of the senior users were present to support the request. Concerning my administrative actions, you stated that I blocked two IP addresses for no apparent reason, as evidenced by the logs; sufficient reasons have been provided. I blocked an IP address for one day that you had written about here for one month. As for protecting the CSS and JS pages, I had a valid purpose for doing so as well, and you may think of it as admin testing from my early days because I didn't want to produce superfluous logs on any other page. The talk page was also requested to be removed for the same reason as the exception. Rest assured, I have greatly improved and maintain a positive attitude in my leadership roles.-- कन्हाई प्रसाद चौरसिया (talk) 12:25, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The best way to prove that you've learned from the mistakes of your previous hindi wiktionary adminship would be to become admin on a project other than Meta and reapply once you have established a good track record. Just relying on your assurance that you've learned from these mistakes is not enough for me, especially considering that some Meta admin actions can have global impact. • Oppose Oppose Unfortunately I am not convinced. Admin actions on Meta can also impact other wikis, so I have higher criteria for adminship on Meta. --Ameisenigel (talk) 13:39, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't see the issues Johannes raised as strong enough for an oppose, mainly because those happened in 2021 and Kanhai has made a reasonable effort to answer his concerns. That being said, @कन्हाई प्रसाद चौरसिया:,
    • You were the user I recall that decided to spam random users at one of your wikis a couple of years back. Why did you do that?
    • The Meta guidelines say that "If a candidate is not already a local administrator or holder of advanced permissions on a Wikimedia content project, he or she is less likely to pass a request for adminship here at Meta-Wiki". I don't see you as someone in that group. Do you think that would be an issue? Leaderboard (talk) 13:49, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong oppose This user has proven themselves to be incompetent on hiwikt and hasn't demonstrated a change in behaviour since. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs) 08:58, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
