Wikidata Properties transclusion ie. {{P|P31}} does not work

On my global user page the Q transclusion works fine ie. Universe (Q1) but properties don't {{{}}}, {{P|P31}} which are causing 'rendering issues' on my user page. LotsofTheories (talk) 03:15, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

It's time for Timeless ?

Hello,

I come to you in order to open a debate on the skin. Is the Vector skin still suitable for our time and uses ? Wouldn’t Timeless skin do a better job than Vector skin ? In order to keep a graphical consistency between all Wiki projects and all languages, I think it would be more interesting to start this discussion directly at the meta project. WMF Support and Safety group

Hello, WMF Support and Safety team was renamed to WMF Trust and Safety in May 2018 (?), but there is still user group named WMF Support and Safety so i think it should be renamed. I am not sure if is this change within scope of T&S team only or if can be requested by anyone on phab. Pinging @JSutherland (WMF), NahidSultan (WMF), and Kbrown (WMF):

We could rename the pages, but renaming the group in the system is going to be a pain for little gain IMHO. We'll need to find all instances of `wmf-trustsafety` and replace them with the new name in the git repos that use this (from memory: wikimedia-config and WikimediaMessages); then wait between one or two weeks for the MediaWiki trains to update everything everywhere in the wikis, deploy config patches to rename the group and run a couple of maintenance scripts to move users between the old name and the new name. I'd be too much work for something that at best is simply cosmetic. Best regards. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 22:32, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

Viewing abuse filters on meta for +patroller

I'm occasionally hitting into error messages such as "You may not view details of this filter, because it is hidden from public view" when analysing global abuse filters on other wikis as an admin. I was told that this is the right place to discuss this.

Considering that meta abuse filters have a global impact, my proposal is to give the right to view meta abuse filters to users here that are reasonably trusted (such as +patroller). These were the options I considered:

• Request Abuse filter helpers. The problem I see is that the impact is global, but I only need to see meta filters (as they affect other wikis).
• Request limited adminship. However, I think the process is needlessly complicated, and plus adminship is powerful for the sole purpose of viewing abuse filters.
• Add the right to a subgroup, such as patroller (my original proposal).
• Create a new subgroup solely to view abuse filters here.

Hmm... I worry that patroller is a group that's "really easy to get". I would be personally happy to grant +patroller to anyone who's active in metawiki patrolling, especially if they have similar permissions elsewhere already. While those people might be trustworthy enough for rollbacking/patrolling edits, I don't think they should see private filters. Some of the filters are even private for a very good reason.

On the other hand, I see that the need Leaderboard describes is a real one, and while granting global AFH flag would solve it, it would also grant unnecessarily high access, which is bad as well (and very much the reason why I don't think granting it to patorller is a good cause).

That leaves me only with an extra group, similar to en:WP:EFH. Martin Urbanec (talk) 18:32, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

That said, I don't really mind EFH to be here (AFH I guess). However, I think anyone who is suitable for such roles can easily pass a limited adminship if needed (just to work with filters / view filters). If we trust someone to see the logs of private filters (which contains so much PIIs here), we should trust them with adminship. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 18:40, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

As I just said on your rights application, the right group to see the action of global filters is abuse filter helpers. That right gives you the filter view and test capacity at your home wikis where the hits occur, and where you can test. That group was set up specifically for global filters, and that is exactly what you are looking to review. You should not be requiring Meta access rights to achieve your tasks, and going that direction seems an unnecessary approach when the correct path has been designed.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:22, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Addendum. Only meta's global filters have a global impact, and it is a limited form of global. It is not all of meta's filters as could be inferred. It was determined that meta was the place to put the global filters, and for quite a while they were limited to stewards, and that was a functional decision based on where stewards were doing all their editing, and they could have been setup anywhere.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:26, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Project Grant Open Call

This is the announcement for the Project Grants program open call that started on January 11, with the submission deadline of February 10, 2021.
This first open call will be focussed on Community Organizing proposals. A second open call focused on research and software proposals is scheduled from February 15 with a submission deadline of March 16, 2021.

For the Round 1 open call, we invite you to propose grant applications that fall under community development and organizing (offline and online) categories. Project Grant funds are available to support individuals, groups, and organizations to implement new experiments and proven ideas, from organizing a better process on your wiki, coordinating a campaign or editathon series to providing other support for community building. We offer the following resources to help you plan your project and complete a grant proposal:
