Art and Feminism Edit-a-thon in Wikipedia and Wikiquote edit

Project Goal edit

Choose one or more of the following goals. You can add or delete goals as needed.

The aim is to recruit more volunteers to engage in the movement and inspire them to devote their skills to developing the Wikiprojects. It is understandable that not all participants will be able to instantly acquire the skills of an editor, so we will provide adequate space and opportunities for learning to everyone. Those that were part of the previous edit-a-thons will serve as tutors and assist in the overall monitoring of edits, registration on event pages, and updating of target articles. The two target projects (Tagalog and Central Bikol Wikiquote) are still in incubator status and we aim to develop it into an official wiki project with its own domain.

Project Plan edit

Activities edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

There will be a series of edit-a-thons but in-person events will be limited to twice every month. Remote editing will be prioritized due to unexpected changes in COVID protocols. Live tutorials will be conducted on the Art and Feminism Philippines FB page at least thrice a month.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

This will be posted to community portals and community members will be informed via their talk pages.

The Art and Feminism have hosted an event page and this will be posted there. This will also be requested on the Central Notice Banner. For outside wiki spaces, we will be publishing the campaign in local newspapers. Updates will also be posted on the Art and Feminism in the Philippines 2022 event page.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:I JethroBT

Yes, local campaign organizers will be present, Brazal.dang, MaroBos, and Daramlagon.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, the community has already four laptops, one projector, and we are looking at conducting some of the in-person events in a local library where references and educational resources are available.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

There will be a specific communication channel intended for the campaign. Evaluation forms will be given every after the event.

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

#VisibleWomen on Wiki projects edit

Project Goal edit

The aim is to involve the local community of artists in contributing their works for the Wikimedia Commons while at the same time promoting feminism through their art pieces. The online exhibit was done during the previous A+F campaign in the Philippines however we intend to immerse more artists in the movement and give them an opportunity to explore the possibility of contributing their works as a free online resource. The theme for the artworks will be centered on women empowerment, feminism, and gender equality. Submitted artworks will also be posted here on the landing page.

Project Plan edit

Activities edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one exhibit or a series of exhibits?

The exhibit will run for one month by which artworks will be exhibited to viewers not only at the event place but also on the social media page of the A+F Philippines.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

There might be a need to hire a local photographer or rent a professional camera to capture a high-resolution photo of the artwork.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

Participating artists will be required to create a Wikimedia Commons account and upload their own contributions.

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

The aim of this is to connect the emerging artists to a wider community so they could also showcase their works to a much more diverse audience and at the same time be active contributors on Wiki projects because not all are into editing, some may consider just contributing their works for free use.

Interview of Local Artists and Documentation of Art+Feminism Movement in Bikol Region edit

Project Goal edit

During the previous Art+Feminism Campaign in the Philippines, we were able to send out interview questions to 5 local artists and feminists however, there were only two of them who were able to accomplish the questions. These were originally written in Tagalog and Central Bikol but it was translated into English later on so many audiences can access the resource. For this year, we intend to conduct in-person interviews and also document the creative process of the artists. This will be in a form of a video presentation and will be uploaded on Wikimedia Commons. We also intend to hear the voices of women in different professions and levels of society. Some of these recent interviews can be seen here.

Project Plan edit

Activities edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one interview or a series of interviews?

There will be a series of interviews, for now, I am thinking of interviewing 3 to 4 artists and feminists in the region. But if other opportunities arise, I may need to add these numbers.

The interview videos will be uploaded on Wikimedia Commons as soon as the editing part is done. Once it is already available, the link will be posted on the social media pages of our local community channels.

3. How will you let participants know about the interviews? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Promotional posters will be uploaded on the Art+Feminism Philippines Facebook page.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:I JethroBT

Yes, local campaign organizers will be present, Brazal.dang, MaroBos, and Daramlagon. Resident artists will also connect me to prospective individuals whom we know we can get relevant information with regards to the Art+Feminism movement in the region.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

I am planning to hire a videographer and editor to create the complete video. English captions will also be provided if the artists would prefer speaking in our local language.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

The artists being interviewed would be asked if they’d be willing to engage more in the wikiprojects either through editing specific art-related articles or uploading their works in the Wikimedia Commons.

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cOGQEB3nlUOuJ9A8e_0QRvWHcPM2zrJCFdzokzjE_I0/edit?usp=sharing

8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

We hope to boosts the Art and Feminism movement in the Philippines and I think it would be a big help to include the local artists, hear and learn from them, and document the actual status of the movement in the region.
