Problem: Currently you only receive notifications when you are logged into a browser, or depending on your preferences per Email. When you write someone a message, you often don't get an answer for a long time because the recipient doesn't notice. Newbies who have logged out often disappear entirely without realizing that someone has written them a message on their talk page. Communication falls by the wayside, and unfortunately so does the workflow. That has to be changed!
Who would benefit: Everyone. Long-time editors whose communication is improving, as are new editors who are more involved. It just makes a lot of things easier.
Would love to see this, as long as it is properly configurable.. Also we already have some of the infrastructure for it on the server side as much of it has been implemented for apps now. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 16:16, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support But noting that some may find the browser permission prompt “do you want to allow push notifications for this site” to be off-putting. Pelagic (talk) 23:40, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support ideally, this could be disabled in preferences (though I think most/all modern browsers have the option to block such notifications) paul2520 (talk) 19:49, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support only as an opt-in in perferences; as said by Pelagic above: some (me) find the browser permission prompt annoying (and I personally prejudice the website with a negative opinion) — DaxServer (t · c) 20:32, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
