On May 1, 2004, Tim Starling initialized Wiktionaries in every language for which there was an existing Wikipedia, leading to 143 new Wiktionaries. The page “Requests for Wiktionary permissions” was created on May 2 so that stewards could deal with increase in permission requests by users needing administrator access on these new projects. This was later merged with “Requests for permissions”.
