HyperBook

Hello I wrote a fictional book that is set during Wikimania2016. Inside the book there are many links to Wikipedia article about relevant places, facts, peolple.

Is there any place inside Wikimedia where I can publish/release the book so that links keep working? I'm afraid that neither Wikibook is the right place, isn't it? Thanks

Two years of Paid contribution disclosure policy

It’s been slightly over two years since the Paid contributions amendment was enacted by the Foundation. Now, I wonder about the effects of its application (or avoidance thereof, as in the case of the projects whose communities decided to opt out) across the Wikimedia projects. For instance:

1. how often are violations to the policy are registered at Wikimedia projects?
2. what actions are typically taken by the community when the violation is found out?
3. are there known cases of the Foundation taking legal action against the parties who do not abide by the policy?
4. has the decision to “opt-out” brought any ill effects to the Wikimedia Commons and MediaWiki wiki projects and communities, and if so, which?

Curiously, are there any research or statistics published regarding the application of the policy, and where does one find it?

On fr.wikipedia, I wrote an help page explaining how to disclose, and a template to notify users.

Contributors following the recent changes, called « patrouille RC », RC patrol in French, uses this template.

We even have some level of compliance from a minority of users.

Meanwhile, Wikimedia Commons took the decision to not apply the policy, mainly as the file uploads don't introduce biais. --Dereckson (talk) 20:48, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

On that note, I’m also looking for the information on how often the disclosures are made? across the projects; and I’m particularly interested in the experiences with the application of the policy in non-Wikipedia projects (such as, say, Wiktionaries.)

One systematic way to look at it would be to check whether there was any increase in creation of user pages by some class of users (e.g. users with less than 1000 edits). Most of the people who are supposed to disclose something would not normally create a user page. (Of course the really bad faith people would create a fancy user page to look more credible, but that's only a negligible minority of those affected by the amendment.) --Nemo 11:14, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Depth

Hello. I wanted to ask whether it is possible parallel to the existing list create another list that will display the projects in order of their depth. I noticed that many small projects, seeking to outperform large, mass produce articles that are absolutely do not meet the requirements of the creation of articles. The quality of articles, the most disgusting. In pursuit of the number, got to the point that notes, warnings and blocking will not help. I think that such a list would be a good helper. See first line of Musings_about_unregistered_contributors#What_is_an_anonymous_contributor. If you want a stable identity, such as a userpage, by definition you want registration. Nemo 17:17, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

WikiObject project propousal

Hi, how about a wikipedia about objects? Instead of generic articles of , for example, "Ballpoint pen" or "Bic cristal" it would be "Green Ballpoint pen Bic cristal 2014" Doing these for millions of objects would allow people to have an open, free, universal and central place to refer specific objects.

Why has a page vanished?

I tried to edit a page about Truprint. I did not create this page. I just needed to add in info to remove info which is now out of date. No edits I made were promotional and didn't contain anything that isn't included on other pages - just facts.

Now the page Truprint has disappeared entirely!! I was told what i was posted was promotional and it wasn't. I was told I needed to make clear i was emplyed by the brand - which i did by changing my user name - and then I just get blocked??

Your user name just escapes an automatic indefinite block because you attached a personal name to it, but that doesn't mean you can continue to spam. I am NOT here to "promote" I am here to make sure Wiki has accurate information about us. I strongly dispute that I have "spammed" - I made one round of edits!

Can someone please let me know how to get the content back live - and to reflect accurately what the business now does, if I am not allowed to do it for you guys?
