WikiCite 2018/Program/Idea pitches

About edit

Idea pitches, in the context of the doathon (Day 3), are short presentations of an idea for what to work on during the day. We will have the following arrangements:

  • 1 min maximum per pitch, with strict timing
  • Etherpad with collaborative notes and as surrogate for Q & A
  • 3 slides maximum
    • Including one standard slide/ section addressing the following questions:
      • How does what you’re doing map to WikiCite’s past, present, future?
      • What would help you be more integrated with other WikiCite activities?
      • What would help you move this idea forward during the course of the day?
  • If you want to pitch more than one idea, use the #Round 2 and #Round 3 slots too. Keep in mind that the idea pitches are for things to work on during the day. For ideas of a more general nature, try to use the lightning talk slots.
  • A maximum of three pitches per person will be possible, corresponding to the three hacking slots in the schedule for the day.

Suggested pitches edit

  4. Let's play Mix'n'match together - Most folks have only worked with Mix'n'match by themselves in isolation. What are the thought processes of folks choosing Yes/No/Skip or Confirm/Remove? After a quick experiment at WikidataCon 2017, where a half-dozen Wikidatans collectively played Mix'n'match at a beer hall, I'm convinced learning from each other's Mix'n'match habits is a valuable exercise but rarely happens. Let's make that happen. We'll start with a 3 minute intro to Mix'n'match for those who don't know what it is, and then try playing it together with different folks "driving" the interface with their favorite data sets and we'll debate the decisions being made. -- Fuzheado (talk) 17:29, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  5. SparqlBlocks for Wikidata! T210810 --Tgr (WMF) (talk) 17:37, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
