Re: mw:Manual:$wgUseTidy edit

Thanks for your edit! There are some things to improve:

  1. the untranslatable table markup (like the "!" in "! Tidy") shouldn't be in translate tags, see mw:Help:Tables to learn what markup is related to tables;
  2. there is no need to translate the see also links;
  3. some of the headers are in the same translation unit as the following paragraph: add an empty line after each paragraph to avoid that;
  4. very long untranslatable strings such as "{{git file|project=mediawiki/core|branch=HEAD|file=includes/Sanitizer.php|text=includes/Sanitizer.php}}" should use the tvar syntax.

And you can continue from where you left by using the permalink: https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Manual:$wgObjectCaches&action=edit&oldid=1987186 Nemo 12:41, 29 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Ok, there were still some units to split and someone may use more tvar, but I approved the page. Now import the translations! Nemo 15:49, 29 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Much better now, most of the changes made by translation admins were very minor. Pay attention to the use of tvar for things we definitely do not want to be translated and to the correct placing of translate tags to make sure everything language-dependent can be translated. Nemo 12:41, 31 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hello, thanks for your further edits; you still used tvar incorrectly, in particular with image thumbnailing|image resizing: the tvar tag most only contain the untranslatable part, in this case the link, not the "image resizing" label which has to be translated. There is also no need to close and reopen the translate tag where there is already an empty line. Same for [1].
Also, in [2] and the others, remember to switch the links to Special:MyLanguage, so that visitors end up on the correct link target based on their language. You can also use the "ll" template, as Shirayuki did. Nemo 11:58, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Page approved. :) Nemo 08:05, 8 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

mw:Manual:$wgDefaultUserOptions approved. I was away when you wrote, sorry. Nemo 09:09, 21 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

New community space for IdeaLab on Connect edit

Hi folks. If you're receiving this message, you've contributed to IdeaLab or an Inspire Campaign this year. Thanks for participating to develop ideas and review ones from other Wikimedians.

We are preparing some changes to IdeaLab and Inspire Campaigns. One of these changes is a new community space on Connect, where Wikimedians can find each other based on common activities or skills, and ask questions about the space. You are invited to join this community space for IdeaLab, especially if you would ever consider needing to find contributors with certain skills (like design or project management) or would like to offer your skills to others in our movement. To join, please proceed to Connect/IdeaLab and click on the "Add yourself" button on the right. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) 19:53, 21 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Inspire Campaign on Measuring Community Health edit

Do you have an idea about how to measure the health of your community? Do you want to review ideas that others have submitted? Through August 10th, we are inviting ideas on how to capture the well-being of Wikimedia communities, in terms of matters like conflict resolution, effective content creation, and being able to contribute in a collaborative environment. Ideas can be focused on either quantitative techniques, such as gathering raw data, or qualitative techniques, like surveying contributors. If you are submitting an idea, guidance is available for how to move your idea into implementation, such as through a grant or starting a Phabricator task to engage with developers.

If you're interested, consider joining the Inspire Campaign. I JethroBT (WMF) 17:14, 13 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Community Wishlist Survey edit

Hi,

You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.

You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

[Wikipedia & Education User Group] Updates: November 2018 edit

Greetings,

Integrating Wikimedia with education is a powerful strategy for the outreach of Wikimedia projects. Realising this concept, a group of leaders promoted this and formed the Wikipedia Education Collaborative. After some time, this evolved to become a user group, officially recognised by the Affiliations Committee in June 2018. The user group had its first board elections earlier in September. In the process to formalise activities and give a shape the user group for long-term sustainability, we are now revamping our processes. Thanks for supporting us during incubation stages, we are now inviting you to formally join the user group by following the instructions on the members' page. Being a member will allow you to be a part of this wonderful collaboration and also do interesting stuff.

Kind regards

Thanks and comments edit

I hadn't tried BUB in a bunch of years, because most of the time it simply didn't worked. Now the tool is both beautiful and functional. I wish I had known before. Just my two cents:

  • It's not very obvious how you would do the OAuth login, there is no button or link.
  • Same with the upload button, I miss it.
  • The commons description page comes up like this, with funky spaces and no newlines.
  • This bit: {{Information field|name=Rights|value=FULL_PUBLIC_DOMAIN|name=Pages|value=160}} throws an error at Commons, because of the duplicate parameters name and value.
  • Is there any way to remove the first "Google logo + disclosure" page that Google Books add? IA-Upload does it

I hope this feedback is useful to you. And thanks! Ignacio Rodríguez (talk) 16:18, 3 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
