I'm user 'Betafive' on en, which I usurped a few days ago; previously, I was 'NotBetaFive.' I screwed something up and ended up as 'Notbetafive' here; is it possible to get a name change and SULify the accounts? Notbetafive (talk) 18:15, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, it seems like you meanwhile managed to also take control of the account "Betafive" here on Meta (cf. Special:Centralauth/Betafive). If you prefer to have the six edits you made with "Notbetafive" (on the superprotect RFC mainly) to be part of your global account Betafive, instead of the one edit you made with "Betafive" so far on the Steward requests/Username changes page, I can rename
- Betafive@meta -> Betafive (SUL problems)@meta
- Notbetafive@meta -> Betafive@meta,
- then you can attach Betafive@meta to Betafive@global. I hope I explained it in an understandable way.. Best regards --MF-W 15:11, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decitionsEdit
The Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.
If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.
