The community vote of this year's Board Elections are close. As always voter mails will be sent out. To invite as many community members as possible in their native tongue your help is very much appreciated. The mails are short, just a bit about two times 200 words, a few minutes of work.

Changes later this week
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 27 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 28 September. It will be on all wikis from 29 September (calendar).- Visual diffs will become available to all users, except at the Wiktionaries and Wikipedias. [1]
- Talk pages on the mobile site will change at the Arabic, Bangla, Chinese, French, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Korean, and Vietnamese Wikipedias. They should be easier to use and provide more information. [2] [3]
- In the Module namespace, pages ending with
.jsonwill be treated as JSON, just like they already are in the User and MediaWiki namespaces. [4]

- Kartographer maps can now show geopoints from Wikidata, via QID or SPARQL query. Previously, this was only possible for geoshapes and geolines. [5] [6]
- The Coolest Tool Award 2022 is looking for nominations. You can recommend tools until 12 October.

- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 4 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 5 October. It will be on all wikis from 6 October (calendar).

What are you playing at?
When I sign up for a meetup, it's not your place to remove my signup and it's incredibly rude. It means other editors don't know I am coming to the meetup. You don't get to decide that IPs have to use a registered account. 86.21.126.59 00:30, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

- MdaNoman, it was a legitimate signup. All Wikipedians are welcome, including those who choose not to register. We've had unregistered editors attend meetups (both Oxford and elsewhere) several times in the past, they have never been turned away, and I see no reason to change that policy. If you like, you may attend the meetup yourself and discuss the matter face-to-face with the other attendees. --Redrose64 (talk; at English Wikipedia) 23:36, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
