Hello edit

With all due respect, the 10th anniversary really is no different from the 9th was or the 11th will be, except that 10 is a round number. Wikipedia caters to the world, and should not hold its readers captive to a Main Page that overloads them with something news channels will already be doing -- 70.29.92.179 20:12, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the notice Mohamed Aden Ighe 14:39, 25 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dear Katarighe, I've undone this edit of yours, because I don't consider your change an improvement. Regards, Mathonius 00:18, 18 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

RfGR edit

As-Salamu Alaykum! I think you did the right thing in withdrawing. Having looked over you global contributions I think you have nothing but good feelings for the Wikimedia Foundation. I'd suggest having 3 or 4 months of global vandalism fighting and then me and others will be more than happy to support you for GR. The issue here is that GR is a tool that permits a person to do admin actions on every wiki; such as suppressing a redirect. Such a thing would normally be only allowed to local admins. For instance, I have GR but if I were to use suppressredirect on enwiki I'd probably get told off, even though I'm also a steward. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help at all. Given your recent totally inappropriate requests to try to obtain a sysop flag somewhere/anywhere and your lack of understanding how this project works, I have to withdraw my words above. You need a lot more clue before any advanced rights are handed to you. fr33kman 23:00, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Permissions, re: metawiki edit

Generally speaking permissions on metawiki (or globally) are granted to people who have a very strong history of dealing with policy violations on other projects within the Wikimedia Foundation projects. For instance, to become an admin on meta you must be an admin on a content based project somewhere else first. Global rollback is a permission that allows you to do a thing called suppressredirect. This right uses the delete function which is a solely administrative right and on enwiki its use is not encouraged unless you are also a local enwiki admin. I'm a steward which means I have absolute control over all projects but I'm not an elected admin on enwiki so for me to use a thing such as suppressredirect on enwiki would usually be wrong. This is the case even though I have more "power" than an admin on enwiki. My ability to act as an admin is limited on enwiki by the local policy for global user rights; ie: I can act only when it is urgent and no other admin is around. I'd suggest that you begin to deal with vandalism on a major project first, such as enwiki, dewiki or similar. In addition to this a history of reverting vandalism on small projects such as ang:, sco:, w:ku: and simplewiki would be needed to gain global rollback. It's understandable that many people feel that if they have rollback on a project somewhere, they'd be qualified for global rollback, but sadly this is not the case. Global rollback is a powerful right that is only given to those who have a good history of dealing with vandalism on a global (ie: literally hundreds of projects) level. As for your being a "good user", frankly the best users here are those who add content to projects such as enwiki. Being an admin is secondary to being a good editor. I hope I've helped you understand the quagmire that is Wikipedia. If you need any help, please ask me and I'd love to help you get accustomed to editing here. All the best! fr33kman 00:30, 5 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

SRP edit

Hi Katarighe, you cannot change a previous request in order to make a new one, you should open a new request, but afaik it will be rejected asap. --Vituzzu 16:09, 10 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Steward Request edit

A steward said no, you can not just decide the request should be reopened. You need to file new requests each time or looking though archive becomes difficult. You also appear to be shopping around for sysop status. This is frowned at strongly. fr33kman 22:54, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've sent an email about a request on why I did wrong. I wont do it again and understand about why I was declined my request. I will really stop this and won't do it again. Thanks! --Mohamed Aden Ighe 23:25, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm glad that you realize that what you are doing is disruptive to metawiki and I understand you want to be an admin rather a lot. I'm not going to lift this block because I feel it's in metawiki's best interest that you take the two days to have a think. I'd also suggest trying to find a mentor if you are serious about becoming an administrative person. fr33kman 00:12, 13 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, I will wait tommorrow at 00:00 UTC on Friday. I already read helpful pages to become an admin on here, so it will take me a year. I mostly active on enwiki, so you can message me here. Thanks --Mohamed Aden Ighe 00:14, 13 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Don't think of time periods regarding becoming an admin; better to think about the needed experience. As for admin on meta you must first be an experienced admin elsewhere on WMF. Since you are mostly active at enwiki, that might be a place to begin. They have a good admin coaching system over there as well. fr33kman 00:23, 13 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
That means in order to be an admin here, you must be an admin on Wikimedia projects right. Also, if im blocked now and apply RfA for the future is it still okay for a chance? I know what I did and if I want to be an admin on a project, I should be active on a project.Mohamed Aden Ighe 00:29, 13 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
You should not be editing just so that you can become an administrator - sysop is little more than a set of tools which is given to trusted users who need them. The goal here is to build encyclopedias, if during that you find that sysop tools will help you then request them. A block here will not be a determining factor on a future RfA, but your actions and attitude will be. Ajraddatz (Talk) 00:31, 13 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
If I be a trustful and very good user in the future and do actions really good, may it work? Mohamed Aden Ighe 00:33, 13 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Fr33kman I will do some tasks on how to be. I will wait until my block expires and do further descisons on how to be a sysop. I allways assume good faith. Thanks but you are welcome to talk¸to me at my talk page at enwiki. Mohamed Aden Ighe 00:38, 13 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
You are welcome, but do take on board what Ajraddatz has said as well. You must now stop using your talk page because the only reason to use it whilst blocked is to request unblock. If you keep asking about becoming an admin while you are blocked, your access to your talk page will be removed and your block may be made longer. fr33kman 00:54, 13 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Done -- already resolved and unblock lifted Mohamed Aden Ighe 00:26, 15 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
