Date and Time

edit

Refering to the sentence "As soon as a venue has been decided and the dates available are clear we will publish a Doodle poll on the date.":

The meeting of the WMF Board of Trustees is planned for 18th and 19th of April 2013. In the past years, we always chose the date for the chapters' meeting according to their dates. Next year, they are even planning to meet on Thursday and Friday already, because they wanted to have the option to all join the chapter people on Saturday and Sunday.

I would definitely advise to have the chapters meeting around the dates of the board meeting (i.e. 19-21 April) and take the advantage of having the board members take part in some of the chapter sessions and be available for discussions and meetings. --Nicole Ebber (WMDE) (talk) 11:12, 16 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that's what we intend to do. I've corrected the statement. - Laurentius (talk) 15:32, 30 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Cool, thanks! --Nicole Ebber (WMDE) (talk) 15:56, 30 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

I want to kindly ask if the Wikimedia Chapters Conference meeting is strictly Invitational?.I mean my sugestion was that if thats the procedure you should also consider inviting intending groups of Wikimedians who wish to start their own Chapters in their countries more especially African Countries. If at all the procedure is that there are scholarships offered when exactly will the foundation open for scholarship applications so i can also apply to attend the meeting.Oarabile Mudongo (talk) 13:45, 29 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Planned chapters are invited to the conference, but it seems that Wikimedia Botswana is in a really early stage of discussion. - Laurentius (talk) 16:02, 31 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I see that you have included WMBR and WM Kazakhstan despite of not being chapters or being aproved. However WMBO or WMUY (WMUY preented its bylaws to AffCom last week) are not included. And Laurentius said that thematic oeganization will be considered like chapters, but no one thematic organization has been aproved, so they should be considered like chapters-to-be like WMBR, WMBO, etc. Regards. --Millars (talk) 13:53, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

The participants page is only informative, the official invitations have not been sent yet (as far as I know). Probably that table has just been copied from last year's page, don't attach any particular meaning to it. --Nemo 14:18, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thematic groups

edit

Are thematic groups invited? We have Wikivoyage who might like to attend. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:58, 28 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thematic organizations will be treated in the same way as chapters are. Wikivoyage e.V. will surely be invited. - Laurentius (talk) 15:23, 28 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Are people considering inviting Wiki Project Med? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 15:20, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Schedule

edit

Aprroximately when can I/we expect a draft schedule? Do you know already when will it start/finish on each day? --Vince (WMHU) (talk) 10:22, 20 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

In less than two weeks we'll be in Milan but we don't have a schedule yet. When will it be available? And the same for thursday meetings, only the meeting about edutacion is listed. And, by the way, will anybody be in Milan since Monday, for meeting and talking? Regards --Millars (talk) 10:10, 6 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Scholarships

edit

Is it true that we will be sending one 1 person per chapter?--Exec8 (talk) 07:32, 10 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Each chapter can send up to 2 representative + 1 staff (if present), as last year. In case of scholarship requests, we are currently accepting automatically the first request for each chapter, while the second one is on hold, and will be accepted if there will be enough funds. Hence, each chapter that needs scholarships will have at least one representative, and hopefully both of them, but that can't be certain until the registration closes. - Laurentius (talk) 13:33, 10 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Webcast

edit

Though we like to bring as many participants as possible, limited resources will not accommodate it. Can the ITA chapter setup a webcast of the conference? Maybe a controlled/registered webcast for those interested to know the proceedings in real time. --Exec8 (talk) 23:40, 10 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Google map

edit

I made this map: http://goo.gl/maps/rQibu for my own orientation. Feel free to add to it and use it. GoEThe (talk) 11:14, 15 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thx, very useful. Maybe you can also mark where the Duomo is :-) --Arnaugir (talk) 18:08, 15 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi :) Thanks for coming to Milan. Hope you had a great time after all and a safe trip back home. Let's stay in touch and share our pics. Beyond commons:Category:Wikimedia Conference 2013, I put mine on Facebook, someone used Flickr and so on. I'd love to keep a list also here, what do you think? --Elitre (talk) 16:52, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
