QueerEcofeminist edit

@DannyS712:, My main reason to ask for these rights is helping translations only, in addition to that, I would be able to handle vandalism in translation space/pages created by translation extension if it's needed at all. thanks QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! I'm still struggling to understand how these rights will help with translating pages or responding to vandalism. --DannyS712 (talk) 20:41, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Probably I was bit careless during my choice of words, I should have used housekeeping/cleaning or something similar, where one cleans the old pages and marks it as patrolled or for translation again. not clearly vandalism but sometimes, corrections in wikicode, change in words/phrases/small parts. I didn't had words to describe this whole process other than vandalism. QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 02:34, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose Oppose doesn't use the rights on wikidata very much, and per wikidata:Special:Diff/1074585238 --DannyS712 (talk) 00:50, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Oppose. I'm sorry. While I don't doubt QueerEcofeminist wants to help, translation adminship is a technical permission to manage translations, not to translate pages which can be done even by unregistered contributors. Their reasoning mentions that they want to help translating, for which translation adminship will not help they. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 18:15, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
MarcoAurelio, Just for clarification, my reason is not just doing translations but also participate in the process from beginning, my answer to DannyS712's question actually makes it clear that, I am familiar with the earlier processes and I want to be part of that. Anyways thanks for comments. QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 02:19, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@QueerEcofeminist: I am not sure how it works at wikidata but TA here doesn't allow deletion of translation related vandalism pages (like test pages or offensive pages) via FuzzyBot. Just to be sure you are not requesting access for this kind of task. If the original page have texts that are removed, then a rollback and mark the latest version for translation (which actually can also be left as the last marked version will not contain vandalism) will then be the most you can do as a TA to combat vandalism. I wish you can confirm this is what you mean. ----Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 10:09, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Camouflaged Mirage:, I am not asking the rights to combat vandalism at all(thats not the priority at least!!!), As I said if that is needed, fighting vandalism would be a part of it. Yes I am aware that I won't able to delete the pages. Yes reverting it back is one way to fix it and I would do that itself. I am asking TA rights to help in translations and translations only. Ability to mark pages for translations is something I am looking forward and nothing else. QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 14:43, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@QueerEcofeminist: Good enough for me to show they know what this perm is used here. All the best. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 14:55, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Comment You seem to only have 3 logged translation admin actions after getting the bit on wikidata, where two of which are in the sandbox. I doubt whether you will actively use it after getting the bit here. If you need to change "words/phrases/small parts" in translatable pages as you mentioned in the reply above, you can ask one translationadmin for help. Only a few pages should not bring much trouble. If you do plan to work on lots of pages and do not want to trouble others, please also request for help for some period to demonstrate the need. --94rain Talk 14:36, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • @94rain: Based on the description of translation admin "No fixed time limit for these requests is defined, and there are no particular requirements; if you provide a valid reason your request will be granted." I do not see any requirements. In addition, I don't understand what you mean by if "you also request for help for some period of time", are you saying limited time? I am all for time-limited / use it or lose it rights but I don't think TA will be one that this approach will help, there isn't any backlogs unlike patroller / admin backlogs. The reason is valid and the user had done decent translation space work. If we are to say that there is hat-collecting or etc (as what you implies), pardon me if I am wrong, this description should change and I will wholeheartedly support any reasonable proposal. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 14:51, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • @Camouflaged Mirage: I didn't mean temporary permissions. I was saying they could ask TAs to mark pages for translation for some period and then request for the permission themselves. Based on their statements here and logs on wikidata, I guess they just occasionally see some random translation root pages that have been edited, or find some pages worth translating but have not been marked for translation, and want them to be marked for translation. If there isn't much work, they do not have to ask for the permission to do it by themselves, and a current TA can help with their requests. *However if they make such requests quite often, it would be probably better to give them the permission to let them do it on their own*. I'd like to see that. Indeed, I set a requirement for TA candidates that they should demostrate that they will use it actively (including those who frequently update translation root pages and need to mark changes for translation). Otherwise if they only need some pages to be marked for translation occasionally, they can make requests instead of asking for the permission. Edits in translation namespaces have little to do with the work of translation admins. I guess my requirement for TA was a bit unnecessary, since it is indeed not a big deal. --94rain Talk 04:39, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
        • @94rain: Thank you for the clarification. Given how the recent TA application goes (this and the last 2), I think some concrete discussion of the criterion to grant TA is needed as the current sentence is quite vauge and opposes seems to want more than what is stated. Yeah, will be good if candidates ask to mark pages for translations very frequently and then ask for TA. I think DannyS712 is one of the good example for this approach. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 07:00, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
          • @94rain:, thanks for your comments and questions, 1) I think, I got TA permissions on wikidata just few days before and no where a right like TA can be used on large pages and create huge edit count out of it. So I will take my own time to use that right and there would few edits till that time, As per my knowledge I have done the same thing any rights I got on any wiki. I took a small time before I started using it on large scale. Hope this answers your concerns on my three TA actions on wikidata? 2) I guess you are confusing my two replies and statements in request, But I will repeat myself again, I want TA rights to mark pages for translations and further translate them. NOT FOR FIGHTING VANDALISM. 3) I would wait and see what others have to say, but I agree with Camouflaged Mirage that, the current policies lack detailed requirements for these rights. So there should be improvements in this regard but pre-implementing imagined future policies would be injustice to me. thanks and regards QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! • Can anyone conclude this request or do we need more time to evaluate? QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 20:22, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Could you give us some examples where you have prepared pages for translation? you have marked a single page for translation on Wikidata, and this is not very good. Matiia (talk) 00:01, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for all of you for your support and suggestions/comments, I will come back with relevant skills you mentioned. I am withdrawing this request. thanks QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 04:47, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
