Meta:Requests for CentralNotice adminship/Ochilov

Hi! I request CentralNotice adminship because I need to have an acces to CN in Russian, Uzbek and Esperanto language projects. The case is that I run some contests quite often (see my userpage) and having this right will make running such contests more easy. Thanks for understanding! --Ochilov (talk) 04:22, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

- Comment eo:Special:Diff/5910525 and another edit there seem to be the only relevant experience of the user. This one adds a link to third party site without any clear statement of it which I assert as rather bad. Besides, Ochilov, what is your level of familiarity with HTML/CSS/Javascript? No great knowledge is required really, but I wasn't able to look it in your contributions. Also, have you read the usage guidelines? --Base (talk) 23:47, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Base:, I do not know Javascript, I have some knowledge of CSS, but I am good at HTML. I have read all the guidelines. --Ochilov (talk) 03:42, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
- Did you already make requests for central notices which were then approved and shown? I don't see any mention of "contests" on your user page. --MF-W 23:29, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
- MF-Warburg, I have cleaned up my userpage. These contests are mine: Inha Wikipedia Writing Challenge, Wiki Loves Uzbekistan. I have also been a global org and a local one in Wikipedia Asian Month/2015 Edition. I have not made any requests, but I know how to edit and I have already done that in eowiki. --Ochilov (talk) 10:19, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
- CentralNotice is edited differently than SiteNotice: that's the reason why I asked the question — CentralNotice banners are written in html with css and js, unlike wikimarkup as with sitenotices. --Base (talk) 11:43, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
- Base, with HTML + css it would be okay for me :) --Ochilov (talk) 12:12, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

- @Base and MF-Warburg: Is there any standing objections here or this can be closed? —MarcoAurelio 10:35, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- To be honest, I must say: Unfortunately yes, after reading the above reply to my question. 1) He requests because of "running some contests quite often (see my userpage)", however the information about these numerous occasions was then removed and it turned out this "often" so far is only 2 or 3 times in total. 2) The need can't also be that high if for these 2-3 events, he hadn't even requested central notices. That also makes it misleading to mention them as reasons at all. I can't see a need for this right if the use cases he cites so far were never encountered by him. 3) I'm also not thrilled by the misleading "know how to edit [central notices] and I have already done that in eowiki", which is immediately disproved in Base's comment (and by knowing that central notices are only edited on Meta). --MF-W 21:08, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- On my part, I am rather sceptical concerning the real need for the rights for the user, but on the other hand I do not have any critical objections, so either decision on this nomination is fine with me. --Base (talk) 00:24, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
- Request withdrawn per MF-Warburg :) --Ochilov (talk) 03:40, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
