Wiki Loves Uzbekistan

Wiki Loves Uzbekistan is a global campaign to expand and improve Uzbekistan related content across several Wikimedia projects. The activities of Wiki Loves Uzbekistan are focused on August. On the 31st of August was declared the Independence of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan is located in the heart of Central Asia and has unique history, culture and traditions diversity. It is a place of the birth of basic principles of modern surgery, Algebra and TV. Old Uzbek language, Chaghatai, as well as Persian, for thousand years was lingua franca in a whole Central Asia. It's historical religion, Zoroastrianism is considered as one of the world's oldest religion, combining a cosmogonic dualism and eschatological monotheism in a manner unique among the major religions of the world.

The campaign is organized by Wikimedians of Uzbekistan Community. 2016 will serve as a “soft launch” year to build momentum toward future activities.
