Support for major multimedia tools: VideoJS, MediaViewer

Discussion

  • @Iniquity: Thank you for submitting this proposal! I see that you provided links to Phabricator boards related to VideoJS and Media Viewer. The survey is meant to highlight specific problems. Are there any particular tasks that you would like to address in this proposal? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by HMonroy (WMF) (talk) 02:01, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    Hello, yes there is. Main problems with VideoJS: phab:T258584, phab:T311343, phab:T258585. MediaViewer: it needs to rewrite, I think xD Look in the board. And it needs to be integrated with the player Iniquity (talk) 07:57, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    @Iniquity Could you reword your proposal to be about just one of those problems? Our FAQ goes into more detail as to what we're looking for as far as the scope of proposals. Alternatively, we can move this to our Larger suggestions category to get the attention of leadership, but this would mean it'd be out of scope for Community Tech. As currently written, your proposed solution of "Select people who would maintain the product" would make this a Larger suggestion. Community Tech is not able to assign teams or people to projects.
    Unfortunately we have only until sometime tomorrow to get this proposal rewritten, if we want it to be in scope for Community Tech. Sorry to rush you! Thanks and regards, MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 18:56, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    @MusikAnimal, If I rewrite it for a small tasks, it definitely won't get votes. I don't think I will, thanks :) Iniquity (talk) 20:11, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    Okay. You're probably right, but small tasks can also be picked up at Hackathons (there's one coming up in May, for example). But with your word, let's leave this as-is and move to Larger suggestions. Thanks for participating in the survey! MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 21:57, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I guess what this is saying is that there should be a Multimedia team (again). --Tgr (talk) 04:12, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
