উইকিপিডিয়ায় ১.৯ মিলিয়নেরও বেশি জীবনী রয়েছে। এর মধ্যে ২০% এর কম নারী এবং বাইনারি নয় এমন মানুষ্যদের সম্পর্কে। উইকিপিডিয়ায় উদ্ধৃতি, ছবি এবং নারী ও বাইনারি নয় এমন মানুষ্যদের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির ক্ষেত্রেও একই রকম ফাঁকা রয়েছে। উইকিপিডিয়া যদি মানব জ্ঞানের সমষ্টি হতে চায়, তবে এটি পরিবর্তন হতে হবে। এত বড় জেন্ডার গ্যাপ (লিঙ্গ বৈষম্য) থাকায়, আমরা এই লক্ষ্যে পৌঁছানো থেকে অনেক দূরে আছি। আন্তর্জাতিক নারী দিবস হল নারী এবং সমস্ত প্রতিনিধিত্ব করা হয় না এমন গোষ্ঠীগুলির জন্য জেন্ডার গ্যাপের কথা নিজেদেরকে স্মরণ করিয়ে দেওয়া এবং সকল মানুষের প্রতিনিধিত্ব (সুনিশ্চিত) করার জন্য আমাদের প্রচেষ্টা নবায়ন করার একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সময়।
