Wiki Tour Chile 2014

Resumen/reporte:
Wiki Tour Chile fue un concurso centrado en la obtención de fotografías de la naturaleza, el paisaje urbano o destinos vacacionales, lugares típicos y actividades económicas, artesanales, costumbres y gastronomía que mostraran las particularidades culturales de Chile. El concurso estuvo abierto a todo público a través de Wikimedia Commons y Flickr, y alcanzó una participación de 3009 fotografías con 401 fotógrafos concursantes. Antes del periodo de subida, se configuraron las herramientas de UploadWizard y CentralNotice con el fin de realizar la mayor difusión posible del concurso y entregar las herramientas necesarias para todas las personas que desearan participar. Al final del periodo de subida, y con un comité preseleccionador, clasificaron a la fase final aproximadamente unas 2100 fotografías.

Wikimedia Conference 2014

Resumen/reporte:
La conferencia anual de capítulos Wikimedia, donde se reúnen representantes de capítulos de todo el mundo, fue organizada el año 2014 por Wikimedia Alemania.
Asistieron a la conferencia tres miembros de Wikimedia Chile: Eduardo Testart, presidente de Wikimedia Chile; Marco Correa, director; y Sarah Chambers, miembro e integrante del Tribunal de Honor. Los representantes asistieron a las sesiones generales y otras charlas y talleres especializados, en diversos temas de interés para WMCL. También se reunieron, el segundo día de la conferencia, con los representantes de los capítulos que conforman la Iniciativa de Cooperación Regional para Iberoamérica (Iberocoop).
Durante el primer día se realiza una actividad para conocer el estado de los capítulos a través un sistema de citas veloces para interactuar con la mayor cantidad posible de miembros del mundo Wikimedia, para posteriormente pasar a la presentación de los resultados del proyecto Chapters Dialogue, llevado a cabo por WMDE. Durante la tarde se da paso a sesiones paralelas donde se desarrollan temas como: Un taller sobre conflictos de interés y una sesión de Información del FDC, entre otros.
El segundo día abre con una reunión entre la Junta Directiva de la Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) y los capítulos y organizaciones temáticas, la cual se desarrolla en mesas temáticas de conversación, para luego pasar a una sesión de revisión de los resultados del proyecto Chapters Dialogue, y durante la tarde, nuevamente se da paso a sesiones paralelas en que se trataron diversos temas de interés para los capítulos.
El tercer día de la conferencia, comienza con una sesión de preguntas abiertas para los candidatos a miembros de la Junta Directiva de la Fundación Wikimedia, que deben ser elegidos por los capítulos, para pasar, a continuación, a una sesión cerrada. Luego se dio lugar a la dos últimas sesiones paralelas y, a continuación, se realizó el plenario de cierre de la conferencia, cuyo eje se centraba en el futuro de la Conferencia Wikimedia.

En pos de establecer un compromiso por un internet más libre, abierto y que respete nuestros derechos como usuarios, WMCL adhiere a la campaña «Yo <3 Internet» organizada por la ONG Derechos Digitales. Esta campaña busca comprometer a los diferentes actores de la sociedad por un internet que cumpla con cinco principios: apertura, acceso, (libre) expresión, innovación y privacidad.

Reunión de Derechos de Autor e Internet del Cuarto Adjunto sobre el TPP en la DIRECON (I)

En la primera reunión se presenta el estado de la negociación de la Propiedad Intelectual, y algunos puntos relevantes como: Derechos de Autor y Derechos Conexos, Observancia y Responsabilidad de los Servicios de Internet.

En el marco de la FLiSOL 2014 realizada en la UTEM, en una charla denominada «El conocimiento libre nos necesita» se presentaron a más de 50 asistentes las diversas alternativas para cooperar con el conocimiento libre, como OpenStreet Map, iniciativas BOINC y los proyectos de la Fundación Wikimedia, enfatizando que el trabajo sobre el conocimiento libre permite unir lazos entre diversas realidades.

Asamblea General Ordinaria de Wikimedia Chile

Se llevó a efecto la tercera asamblea general ordinaria de socios de WMCL. En la asamblea se dio cuenta de las actividades y del estado financiero de la Corporación, como también del reporte de actividades desarrolladas durante el año 2013, además se discuten las actividades pendientes de la Corporación para el año 2014 y nuevos proyectos para el 2015 (primer semestre), a su vez, las comisiones de trabajo dan cuenta de sus actividades. Asistieron 11 socios activos.

Wiki Tour Chile 2014

Summary/report:
Wiki Tour Chile was a contest focused on obtaining new photos of nature, urban spaces, vacation destinations, typical sights, free activities, artesan crafts, customs and gastronomy that demonstrates the cultural particularities of Chile. The contest was open to any member of the public through Wikimedia Commons and Flickr, and reached a participation of 3009 photographs with 401 participating photographers. Before the submission period, the UploadWizard and CentralNotice tools were confirgured in order to create the best diffusion possible throughout the contest and deliver the tools necessary to everyone who wished to participate. At the end of the submission period, with a preselection commitee, a final selection of 2100 photographs was decided upon.

Wikimedia Conference 2014

Summary/report:
The 2014 anual conference of Wikimedia chapters and user groups, where representatives from all over the world meet, was organized by Wikimedia Germany.
Three members of Wikimedia Chile attended: Eduardo Testart, President of Wikimedia Chile; Marco Correa, Director; and Sarah Chambers, member of both WMCL and the chapter Honor Tribunal. The representatives attended general sessions, besides other lectures and specialized workshops over many topics of interest for WMCL. Also, during the second day of the conference a meeting was held for the members of the Regional Cooperation Initiative for Ibero-America (or Iberocoop.)
During the first day an activity was held to learn the state of each chapter through a “speed dating” format, in order to interact with as many Wikimedia members as possible. Afterward, the group would move to the presentation of the Chapters Dialogue results, organized by WMDE. The afternoon would lead to several parallel sessions with themes such as: “Conflicts of Interest” and an informational FDC “Q & A,” besides others.
The second day began with a meeting between the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) Board of Trustees and the chapters/thematic organizations, and was held between various “themed” tables in the same room. Later on, a review sesión was held to discuss the results of the first Chapters Dialogue, followed by more parallel sessions with various topics of interest for the chapters.
The third day of the conference began with a session of open questions for the candidates of the WMF Borad of Trustees, that would be picked by the chapters; this would continue into the following closed session. After the last two parallel sessions of the day, the closing activities of the conference were held, centering on the future of the Wikimedia Conference.

Participation in the “Yo Amo Internet” Campaign

Towards establishing a commitment for internet that’s freer, open and that respects our rights as users, WMCL adhered to the “Yo <3 Internet” (I Love Internet) campaign, organized by the NGO Derechos Digitales (Digital Rights). This campaign seeks to bring different societal actors to commit to an internet that follows five core principals: openess, access, (free) expression, innovation and privacy.

In the first meeting the state of negotiations for Intellectual Property was presented, along with other relevant points, such as: Copyright, Neighboring Rights, Observance and Responsibility of Internet Services.

Presentation in the FLISOL Conference 2014

Within the setting of the 2014 FLISOL Conference held at the UTEM University, the presentation titled “The free knowledge we need” was held with more than 50 attendees, over the diverse alternatives available to support free knowledge, such as Open Street Map, BOINC initiatives and projects from the Wikimedia Foundation, emphasizing that work completed over free knowledge allows links to be formed between diverse realities.

General Ordinary Assembly of Wikimedia Chile

The third annual general assembly of WMCL members was held. In the assembly the annual account of activities and financial state of the Corporation was delivered, as well as the report of projects developed in 2013. During the meeting, the topic of pending activities for the Corporation in 2014 was discussed, as well as the new projects for 2015 (first semester) and the reports over the activities of the commissions. 11 active members attended.
