General information
editThe Wikimedia Conference (WMCON) is the annual meeting of all Wikimedia organizations (Wikimedia chapters, thematic organization, user groups, and the Wikimedia Foundation), as well as the WMF Board, AffCom and FDC to discuss the future of the Wikimedia movement in terms of collaboration, structures and organizational development.
The WMCON18 is organized and hosted by Wikimedia Deutschland (WMDE) in close collaboration with the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF).
In addition to the core-conference, the Wikimedia Foundation, Wikimedia Deutschland and the Affiliations Committee offer two different programs on Wednesday and Thursday, April 18+19: Learning Days and the Boards Training Workshop.
Registration period
editRegistration opens on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 and closes on Monday at midnight CET, January 15, 2018. Please note that no registrations will be accepted after this deadline.
Preparing for registration
It takes up to 40 minutes to complete the registration form. Please only register for WMCON18 after you have been selected to represent your affiliation at the conference or have been invited by the Program and Engagement Coordinator. To be able to fully respond to all questions, please take the following steps:
1. Check eligibility criteria
It is crucial to check the subpage eligibility criteria carefully before registering. The provided list shows your affiliation’s eligibility status and defines to which participants’ group you belong to. Moreover, it displays the group related travel and accommodation booking process as well as the number of participants your affiliation is allowed to send.
2. Follow the “how to select the delegates” information
You can find the information here.
3. Questions on conference program
You can look them up in advance here. Please note that you will be asked to answer these questions within the registration form.
4. Pre-conference program
If you are interested in participating in the pre-conference Learning Days or Boards Training Workshop please read the relevant sections carefully, before filling in the registration form.
5. Have your passport at hand
All participants, who get their travel booked by WMDE or WMF and/or are in need of a visa, need to enter their passport details within the registration form. We would also like to highlight that you need to have a passport that is at least valid for six month beyond the period of your stay.
