Template Wizard script available for testing

Hello. I'm contacting you because you voted for the Infobox Wizard in the 2017 Community Wishlist Survey.

The Infobox Wizard has gotten an upgrade - it's now a Template Wizard which works for infoboxes and all other templates. The feature is being developed as an extension (which will allow for localization) but there is a prototype user script which works well.

The Wishlist Team would love it if you could take a few minutes to try the Template Wizard prototype script out and give us feedback on whether it lives up to your expectations. This feedback will help build the script into an extension. To get started, add the following to your Special:MyPage/common.js -

mw.loader.load( '' );

The Template Wizard will show up as a puzzle-piece icon in the 2010 WikiEditor. You can click on the icon to insert a template. Your thoughts are needed on whether it makes sense for the wizard to be available for all users by default or if there should be a preference for it. If it's a preference, what should the default be? Please leave your feedback here. Thank you! -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 22:42, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

Translation Request

Hello, I understand you speak Bulgarian. I was wondering if you can translate "Village in China", "Commune in Morocco", and "village in Indonesia". It is for updating Wikidata. Thanks in advance. --Artix Kreiger (Message Wall) 00:37, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

Artix Kreiger:
  • Village in China --> "село в Китай"
  • Commune in Morocco --> "община в Мароко" (it would help to know what the exact context is, as the translation may be different)
  • village in Indonesia --> "село в Индонезия"
Cheers, — Luchesar • T/C 17:28, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

Commond deletion bot requirements

I'm contacting you because you supported the Commons Deletion Bot proposal in the 2017 Community Wishlist. The Wishlist team has finalized the draft specifications for how the bot will work, and are seeking review in confirming or discussing the plans for the bot. If you have some time, please take a look and leave a comment. Thanks, happy editing to you. - Keegan (WMF) (talk) 19:06, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

New Tech Ambassadors Phabricator board

You have listed yourself as an active Tech Ambassador, thank you for that!

We have recently set up a board on Phabricator so that you can learn about tasks and updates that are potentially interesting for your community, and take action when necessary. During the pilot phase we are currently in, to avoid confusion, only Wikimedia Foundation's Community Liaisons will mark tasks so that they end up in the various columns. Thanks for your understanding!

Please follow this Phabricator board (learn how to). You'll receive "notifications" for updates in all tasks listed there. In case you choose to receive them as email; we currently expect the volume to be fairly low, but in any case you can learn how to manage it.

If you have any feedback about this board, please leave your questions and comments on the Ambassadors talk page.

All the best, Trizek (WMF) (talk) 13:03, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

Next steps for the wish “confirmation prompt for the rollback link”

Hello, a while ago you participated in a feedback round about a proposal how accidental clicks on the rollback link could be avoided. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and ideas!
Looking at the feedback and the rollback situation in different wikis, the development team decided how to approach this wish: As a default, most wikis won’t have a confirmation. But users who wish to have one, can enable it in their preferences, which will add a confirmation prompt to the rollback link on the diff page and on the list pages. The prompt won’t be a pop-up, but an inline prompt like for the thanks confirmation. You can read more about the planned solution and what influenced this decision on the project page. -- Best, Johanna Strodt (WMDE) (talk) 09:52, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Commons deletion notification bot

You are receiving this message because you supported the Commons deletion notification bot in the 2017 Community Wishlist Survey.

Commons deletion notification bot is ready to be deployed to any Wikimedia wiki that wishes to use it. If your community is interested in the bot, you can leave a request on the project page on meta-wiki. The bot messages are available for translation on, as part of preparing the bot for release.

Thank you for your participation in the Wishlist. -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 17:29, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

SVG Translate Community wishlist survey project

Hello! Thank you for voting for the SVG Translate project that was proposed in the 2017 Wishlist survey. The Community Tech team in the Wikimedia Foundation is beginning to start their work on the project. We're currently looking for feedback on some open questions which will allow us to come up with preliminary designs for the tool. If you are interested in being involved, you can watch the project page and join in the discussions on the talk page. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and learning from your experiences. Thank you. -- NKohli (WMF), Product Manager, Community Tech (talk) 21:53, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

I was glad to see your most recent edit. Anything that is going to require a lot of finesse is going to be a problem. One important question, though, is: if we are going to leave something intact, who decides what to leave intact? And on what grounds?

  • One possibility is that you run a formal RfA on that project. If there aren't objections (over a week), you'll get a temporary flag. Then you could delete what you want, and then we could lock afterwards. (That assumes that you are an appropriate party to judge this. Given that you otherwise want to close the project, that's probably reasonable, but possibly someone will object.)
  • Another is that you simply start tagging pages not to delete, and we try to see if a steward has access to a bot that could check every page and delete every page not having the "don't delete" template.
What grounds?
  • The question of how to judge content pages may end up being contentious at a certain point in its own right. Possibly the idea that the project would be locked anyway would make it less contentious; I just don't know.
  • One of the reasons not to hard-close projects, to say nothing of not deleting projects, is to preserve the infrastructure (templates, modules, categories, help pages, project pages, etc.) for people to try to resurrect the project in the future. If a lot of the existing infrastructure is problematic—for example, because it has not been translated from Russian to Bulgarian—that may change how to look at the problem.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:41, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

PS: There is now an account on Bulgarian Wikinews (at least) that seems to be (more or less) your user name in Cyrillic. If that is an alternative account for you, please declare it. If it's someone posing as you, please let me know. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:41, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
StevenJ81, thank you so much again for taking the time to think about those problems. Let me best discuss this with our community and I'll reach back. And no, that account is not mine, though I'm not entirely surprised seeing it.
— Luchesar • T/C 15:54, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
Keep an eye on that account. If the account makes no further edits, fine. If it starts causing problems, go to SRG and request a global lock on grounds of spoofing. StevenJ81 (talk) 18:24, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

The Community Wishlist Survey

You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.

You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC) - deletion of conversation between IP and user and block of IP

Why did you delete the conversation between me and User:Zhoxy on bg:talk:USB Type-C and additionally blocked my IP? 20:39, 2 November 2018 (UTC)

Apparently, the AI bot decided that your behaviour was suspicious. Though the bot did have reasons to believe so, in this case it was obviously a mistake. I've lifted the block and restored the talk page. Thank you very much for notifying me and apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Blagodarja!! 22:44, 2 November 2018 (UTC) AI revert and block

c:File:USB_Type-C.svg contains text, which is normally undesired. The file is used only in bgwiki and kkwiki and should be deleted soon, since a no-text version has been created.

bg:Потребител:Evgeni-tsn/sandbox - could you undo the change of your AI-bot?

The user made 20 edits three years ago:

Blagodarja! 01:38, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

Please do not edit other users' pages, unless absolutely needed. If a file gets deleted on Commons, the bot CommonsDelinker usually takes care of removing all references to it, so no need to delete those files in advance. If you want to propose deleting the file, the fact that it's used in somebody's sandbox—or even an article, for that matter—is irrelevant; as long as there are valid reasons to delete it, it will be deleted.
— Luchesar • T/C 06:58, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
Come, that is double standard, others have edited the page before. And the AI even did it on the article. The AI seems a bit rassist, Niridya could change [1] but me you block. 13:27, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
The bot is always more suspicious of anonymous users, especially when they revert the bot's edits, and even more so when a bunch of IPs try making the same edits. It's a benign change here, but the bot isn't that smart.
— Luchesar • T/C 13:37, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
In eswiki a bot also reverted, but does not block users. And when I used the revert button, it stopped to revert me [2]. And I could make another change of the file before in bgwiki, Maybe you disable the bot on s/.png/.svg, if a file for the SVG exists, because that normally is not a problem. 13:46, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
And stop trying to edit other users' pages. This is the last time I'm unblocking you. If you feel the change is that important, please ask for assistance on the local RfAA.
— Luchesar • T/C 13:42, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
So, it is not your bot that is rassist, but you are. Others were allowed to edit the page, but me not? The user had a sandbox for the page USB-C and then left Wikimedia. 20 edits in three Wikimedia projects, all related to USB-C and then he left. Three years ago. And I made a tiny change. 13:47, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
  1. If you cared to check, you would've seen that I had restored your version of the article.
  2. Calling people “racist” is not going to do much good for your point of view.
This conversation is over.
— Luchesar • T/C 14:19, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
  1. Maybe you see the difference between "And stop trying to edit other users' pages." and "I had restored your version of the article"? You did not restore [3] but instead you said "And stop trying to edit other users' pages.".
  2. It was the former why I called you racist, had nothing to do with the article. My point of view does not depend on whether I call you that or not. So, yes "not going to do much good" but neither to do anything bad. 17:29, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
