Seeking WMF financial information by regionEdit

copy/pasted from: /Archive 01

Where can I find a report of Wikimedia Foundation annual spending by region? Is the WMF internally aware of its spending by region? Where is a published report?

I will take what you have. I am hoping for a balance sheet starting with annual spending, the US$100 million, and breaking it down in a way like North America, South America, Europe, Africa, etc. If there are regions, I would really like to see spending in South Asia, Middle East, East Asia, and the former Soviet Union.

Thanks for whatever you can share, or any previous discussion to which you can direct me. Blue Rasberry (talk) 12:04, 18 November 2019 (UTC)

Hello Blue Rasberry . I am in the middle of reviewing 30 APGs right now, so I won't prioritize your question until two weeks from now. Just wanted to give you a heads up that this will take some time. Thanks! Delphine (WMF) (talk) 12:09, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
Acknowledged, thanks. Blue Rasberry (talk) 12:10, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
Blue Rasberry I forgot that this was on the 990 that you can find here on page 30. This is 2017-2018, but 2018-2019 will probably look about the same, with a slow but hopeful and real shift towards more emerging communities and geographies. Delphine (WMF) (talk) 08:35, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Delphine,

It was brought to my attention that you work on the onboarding of new employees with the WMF.

At the moment there are several changes within the technical branch of the wiki's. We, as volunteers, are trying to develop new features, but the deployments of these are being delayed or even on hold for an unforeseen time. Would it be possible for us to talk to you about the prioritisation between volunteer work and the professional work for engineers? I'd be very curious about how this subject is raised with new employees during their onboarding time.

Best regards, Ciell (talk) 16:27, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Ciell. I am not sure I understand what the context exactly is, so why don't we actually talk? When would be a good time? You can reach me on Telegram/per email etc. and we can find a time there? Delphine (WMF) (talk) 17:17, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
Hi Delphine,
This might be my limitations in finding the right words. I'll reach out to you through email instead!
Thanks Ciell (talk) 17:25, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
