edit

Hi there I noticed that the Pashto Wiktionary has got a new logo with its name in Pashto and its moto also in Pashto but the way it is wriiten is wrong. You might know that arabic letters are joining writings which have three forms the initial, middle and end form. The Pashto name of wiktionary and its moto stated under the logo is correct but the letters are supposed to be joining like in the following:

ويکيسيند

يو وړيا سيند

But now the text is like in the following which is not the correct form of writing:

وي ک ي س ي ن د

ي و وړي ا پ و ه ن ډغ ون ډ

Please correct this mistake and make it as it is mentioned in the first place with larger fonts.

thanks --Khangul (talk) 22:45, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the feedback, Khangul! I understand what the issue is, and it is probably caused by a problem the font that odder used when he created the logo. Could you ask him about it? We can probably use another font instead. His talk page is user talk:odder and the file that we're talking about is File:Wiktionary-logo-ps.png. Cbrown1023 talk 23:05, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Anglo-Saxon Wikipedia IRC Channel edit

Can you create an Anglo-Saxon Wikipedia IRC channel please? --Horrifico (talk) 22:49, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

You can actually do this yourself — you do not need to ask for special approval or get someone else to do it. Just join the channel you want to create (e.g. /join #wikipedia-ang) and then do (/msg ChanServ register #wikipedia-ang) and the channel will be registered. :-) You can also ask people in #wikimedia-opsconnect to help you if you need anything. Hello,

Kindly assist in working on BCL Wikipedia logo as there was a growing need from the bcl community to have an svg version uploaded. --Exec8 (talk) 19:14, 22 January 2013 (UTC) (VP, WMPH)Reply

Hello! Thanks for your interest in updating the bclwikipedia logo. However, user:Nemo bis and user:Odder have actually taken over the logo update project, so could you please ask them for help with this? Thanks again and good luck! Cbrown1023 talk 18:35, 27 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Bureaucrat discussion edit

Hello. A bureaucrat discussion has been opened to decide the outcome of this request for de-adminship. It is opened for more than three days now and it has only received one comment so far. If you could please pass by and leave your comments over there it would be really appreciated. Best regards.

Translation administrator flag edit

Hello, I see that you have translation administrator flag but apparently never used it; if I'm mistaken, forgive me and consider the rest of the message for what it's worth. The current wording of the policy says «Meta administrators are able to add (and remove) themselves to the group if they are willing to help other users or need it», so you can add it to yourself at any time; but you may consider removing it for now. This would also help users willing to contact translation admins, making it easier. Thanks, Nemo 11:29, 31 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Forced user renames coming soon for SUL edit

Hi, sorry for writing in English. I'm writing to ask you, as a bureaucrat of this wiki, to translate and review the notification that will be sent to all users, also on this wiki, who will be forced to change their user name on May 27 and will probably need your help with renames. You may also want to help with the pages m:Rename practices and m:Global rename policy. Thank you, Nemo 16:51, 3 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Apology for removal of admin rights edit

I'm sorry for the abrupt removal of admin rights on this wiki, which wasn't announced in advance. We've been talking internally for a while about making the governance structure of this wiki more clear, i.e., decisions regarding content and practices in this wiki are ultimately up to WMF staff. There may be projects during which it makes sense to assign temporary adminship to volunteers, as well, but we wanted to start with a clear separation of roles and responsibilities.

I apologize, though, for the hasty implementation of this decision! I didn't intend to express any disrespect or distrust. On the contrary, I'm very grateful for all the work you and other volunteers have done on the Wikimedia Foundation wiki over the years, and I hope you won't be too discouraged by this experience. I'll be posting an update about the next steps for wikimediafoundation.org on the wikimedia-l mailing list soon.

Please do reach out to me if there's anything else I can do. Gyoung (talk) 05:00, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Help test better mass message delivery edit

Hi. You're being contacted as you've previously used global message delivery (or its English Wikipedia counterpart). It doesn't feel so great to be spammed, does it? ;-)

For the past few months, Legoktm has built a replacement to the current message delivery system called MassMessage. MassMessage uses a proper user interface form (no more editing a /Spam subpage), works faster (it can complete a large delivery in minutes), and no longer requires being on an access list (any local administrator can use it). In addition, many tiny annoyances with the old system have been addressed. It's a real improvement! :-)

You can test out MassMessage here: testwiki:Special:MassMessage. The biggest difference you'll likely notice is that any input list must use a new {{#target:}} parser function. For example, {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales}} or {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales|test2.wikipedia.org}}. For detailed instructions, check out mw:Help:Extension:MassMessage.

If you find any bugs, have suggestions for additional features, or have any other feedback, drop a note at m:Talk:MassMessage. Thanks for spamming! --MZMcBride (talk) 05:24, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
