Page design

Hi. I like what Foundationwiki and Commons each do, albeit a little differently from one another, in that they have some filler space at the top of the main page. Meta-wiki's content seems to be too high up on the page. Killiondude (talk) 05:57, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Major missing mainpage item

{{editprotected}} Something like the Community Consultation (i.e., a list of problems identified for WMF's future growth and survivability) was produced from the WMF board late last year, posted a bit late (Jan.) to wikimediafoundation.org by adding it to the annual report or whatever it's called, and copied to somewhere on Meta and given a talk page where people can respond to the numerous line items on it. After having seen it once, I can't find it again, either on here or on wikimediafoundation.org. This should be located, and put immediately under the Community Consultation item on the Meta main page. It covers much more than the Consultation, and much of it is crucial (both as to what it outlines, and perhaps as to what it does not, some might think). It definitely needs a larger and more diverse community response.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  13:06, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Good idea. I remember seeing what you are talking about also but after spending the better part of an hour looking for it, I cannot find it either. Reguyla (talk) 03:51, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
Do you mean Communications/State of the Wikimedia Foundation? Nemo 07:48, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
No, though that would be a good item to add, too (appears to be late 2014 product added here in early 2015). The one I'm thinking of looked similar, was authored late 2015, and updated in early 2016 with missing material on threats/challenges faced by WMF. I'll go look in the Foundation site again.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  04:12, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
@Nemo bis, @Heather (WMF), @Reguyla:. Found it: wmf:2015-2016 Annual Plan, especially wmf:2015-2016 Annual Plan#Wikimedia Foundation Risks (the part that was added later). Meta's commentable copy is at Wikimedia Foundation Annual Plan/2015-16 (and Wikimedia Foundation Annual Plan/2015-16#Wikimedia Foundation Risks as to the key section). This should be prominent on both wikimediafoundation.org's and Meta's main pages (as the wikitext document, not just this PDF).  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  09:06, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
Thank you and I agree it should be listed on both those sites. Reguyla (talk) 17:53, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
I realize there's a lot of chaos going on at WMF right now, but how do we effectuate these page updates? They would seem more important now than ever, perhaps.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  11:08, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
<knock knock knock> Anyone home?  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  17:12, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Hm? At the moment I see some "Community consultation for the 2016 Wikimedia Foundation Strategy" in the going ons sections. Is anything else needed? --Base (talk) 18:22, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Yes, the Wikimedia Foundation Annual Plan/2015-16 (and Wikimedia Foundation Annual Plan/2015-16#Wikimedia Foundation Risks section especially) need attention drawn to them. These are largely unrelated to this consultation thing, and the only place to comment on the Annual Plan is Talk:Wikimedia Foundation Annual Plan/2015-16; the master copy at wmf:2015-2016 Annual Plan has no talk page.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  23:57, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
I moved the item about the community consultation to the archive because that consultation finished on March, 18. The pages for the consultations are 2016 Strategy/Community consultation and 2015 Strategy/Community consultation. It looks to me that you want to update the links at the right of the introduction to be something like: Vision / Mision / Strategy / Anual Plan / Research / Projects / ... That sounds good but, isn't the proper place for those pages the foundation wiki? --Lsanabria (talk) 03:17, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

Suggestion

I suggest to change the name wikimedia, wikipedia and all the wikimedia projects by Welivesforever, thank you, love and greetings.

Contents projects

Just to be clear: I don't care too much about the use of en-versions, but I think someone might :)

I am sure there are nice multilingual website interface. Those with all the main versions displayed in a circle around a logo. Why don't we us them?--Alexmar983 (talk) 12:00, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

No wait... we have also main pages for specific languages with specific links such as this one? Well, I am not sure if the situation is handled prefectly. For example this talk page is clearly abandoned and full of weird requests.--Alexmar983 (talk) 12:12, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Warning: Display title "Main Page" was ignored since it is not equivalent to the page's actual title.

The spanish version of the main page (Portada/es) shows this error at the top:

Warning: Display title "Main Page" was ignored since it is not equivalent to the page's actual title.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Regards, Lsanabria (talk) 03:53, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

I found how to solve it. Regards, Lsanabria (talk) 15:08, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
Lsanabria, others might be interested. How did you solve it? Etamni | ✉  21:39, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
The "Main Page" parameter in Template:Main Page/es had the wrong value. --Lsanabria (talk) 13:28, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

azb wiki is Unclear

hi, azb wiki articles are Unclear and unmeaning for 99% of south azerbayjani speakers. many of articles are writen in north azerbayjani or turkish and we don't understand them. how we could change this? --Alp Er Tunqa (talk) 17:37, 1 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Can you show statistics for your claim of azb wiki being unclear for 99% of the speakers, because if its unclear then how can you and these users[1] use and edit articles and join discussions on azb wiki?! The Use of references which are written in south azerbaijani (such as this articles reference) shows what language azb wiki is. --Ilğım (talk) 04:01, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
This conversation was also opened in Wikimedia Forum#azb wiki is Unclear. Maybe it will be better to continue the conversation there since this doesn't look like a topic about the main page. -Lsanabria (talk) 14:01, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

There is an Assamese version of the main page (বেটুপাত), but no link to it from this page. Can anyone add a link (in the other languages section)?? IKHazarika (talk) 05:20, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
