Add language code as id= value edit

Hi. I'd suggest to add the language code as an id to table rows like so:

|- id="en"
| 1
| [[w:English language|English]]
| ....

with the net effect that we can append #zxx to the URl of this page and have our browser instantly jump to the language having the code zxx, our favorite, presumably. --Purodha Blissenbach 20:38, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good. And it may also be useful for other statistics of wikis by size, such as List of Wiktionaries/Table, Wikiversity, etc. --Kanjy 09:44, 10 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

New 9 Wikipedias. edit

Please, people when update table information let duplicated language. when the language changes of position, it has passed an opportunity in which it has harmed the count, exceeding in one the real number of wikipedias. Please don't let duplicated language information!!!. Crazymadlover

Remove closed Wikipedias from the list? edit

Some Wikipedia sites have been closed. Its contents have been moved to Incubator (f.e. 'hz') or moved to another provider (f.e. 'tokipona'). I think these entries should be removed from the list. Alternatively, all incubator projects should be added to this list, and links for closed projects should be changed to point to the main pages on Incubator or elsewhere. Siebrand 10:49, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree with closed wikis removal. I am not sure about pointing to Incubator (maybe if new designated section was created in the bottom?). I am against linking to other providers - once it's not Foundation's project, it should not be on the list of Foundation's projects.
Danny B. 11:07, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree with you Danny. Crazymadlover
Afaics, all relevant wikis hosted elsewhere are mentioned in the Deprecated, moved and other section. Imho that suffices.
Including incubator projects may be nice, but I doubt obtaining good counts automatically would be working at the moment. Possibly, an incubator statistics page should be generated and maintained on-wiki? We link to it, or occasionally copy it. --Purodha Blissenbach 18:34, 13 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Punjabi, Western Panjabi, Gurmukhi, Shahmukhi edit

Please change the title of 'Western Panjabi' to 'Punjabi (Shahmukhi)' and 'Punjabi to 'Punjabi (Gurmukhi)' as it is appropriate description. Western Punjabi is a set of dialects which should not be confused with Shahmukhi which is Punjabi written in persio-arabic script. The wikipedia under 'Punjabi' is Punjabi in indic script which should be Gurmukhī script.

Burmese name wrong spelling edit

Spelling for Burmese language is မြန်မာစာ. Yet every time we corrected it, it went back to the wrong spelling မ္ရန္‌မာစာ. I think it was written in unused old Unicode encoding. Please look into it. Thanks. Lionslayer 19:22, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Error in "Grand total" number of articles edit

The current "Grand total" number of 38 547 867 is about 11 million too high (S23 gives it as 27 459 107). It appears that the error first occurred in this edit by EmausBot, which changed the number from 26 217 76 to 37 388 947 on April 13, and has been perpetuated since then. Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 00:08, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

The error seems to come from http://wikistats.wmflabs.org/display.php?t=wp . Filed as Bugzilla:50556. Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 06:41, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for pointing this out. Can we make this clear in the list or table page as well, at least? :) --Elitre (talk) 07:27, 28 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

New version of Bot's code edit

I introduced a new version of my bot's code. Now, it calculates all data itself instead of copying from wmflabs. In comparison with the previous version there are some changes:

  • added Minangkabau wiki
  • corrected some local language names, including the Egyptian Arabic
  • recalculated Grand Total

Please see the version and check the correctness of data. --Emaus (talk) 19:39, 7 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please change the local name of North Frisian (frr) from "Nuurdfresk" to "Nordfriisk" (and also the link). "Nuurdfresk" is correct in one dialect, but the general name is "Nordfriisk". Thanks in advance! --Murma174 (talk) 12:09, 19 August 2013 (UTC) (sysop and crat on frrwiki)Reply
P.S. Mutante changed it already in his database. --Murma174 (talk) 12:15, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
As I see, the local article has title "Nuurdfresk". Would it be correct to link the title "Nordfriisk" with this article? --Emaus (talk) 09:56, 28 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Not exactly. There is no standard variant in North Frisian, but "Nordfriisk" is an acknowledged common North Frisian name for all the different North Frisian dialects (a sort of 'meta name', also used for the frr-WP in general). So the link should direct to the local article w:frr:Nordfriisk (just a portal page, that leads to the several articles about the North Frisian language, written in several North frisian dialects) with the label 'Nordfriisk' -> [[:w:frr:Nordfriisk|Nordfriisk]]. Hope, I could clarify the situation a little bit. --Murma174 (talk) 09:58, 1 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! It means a lot in the language community. --Murma174 (talk) 22:18, 11 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

That's "normal", maintenance scripts are run regularly to fix such issues with article count. Maybe we need initSiteStats.php for files as well; the differences are usually minimal though. Nemo 07:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Nemo bis: The eswiki miscount exists for a long time in List of Wikipedias/Table, but a zero existed some time ago. Also three Wikis have negative values see List of Wikipedias/Table/sortable with ady = -10. Minimal diff, especially if too much is shown, is bad if there are zero files. Looking at mw:Manual:InitSiteStats.php I cannot see that this is not for files. The accompanying Manual:ShowSiteStats.php shows images. Who could run it on eswiki? 91.9.96.221 08:48, 21 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Statistics with action=raw edit

Hello, what is the purpose of the "?action=raw" parameter in the link to each wiki's Special:Statistics page in the Articles column? I don't see it make any change (even if appended to /w/index.php instead) as the page is still displayed in HTML as usual (as when without the parameter). Should that parameter perhaps get dropped? --Blahma (talk) 21:02, 26 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

The ?action=raw functionality of the Special:Statistics page was removed sometime around February 2011, I believe, athough I can't find a citation for this at the moment. It used to return a string like:
total=22715717;good=3514872;views=63208806;edits=434704217;users=13662364;activeusers=129188;admins=1766;images=854529;jobs=47117
but it hasn't worked that way for many years now. @Emaus: ?action=raw should be dropped from the links in the "Articles" column. - dcljr (talk) 01:56, 3 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
