divisions by 5Edit

Hello. An edit war begins ? I put a message [1] on User talk:Prince Kassad, with no answer, just a revocation [2]  :-( A sad way to begin 2008. Alvaro 13:42, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok, following this discussion on User talk:Alvaro... divisions by 5 look like a false good idea ;D Alvaro 13:36, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Add language code as id= valueEdit

Hi. I'd suggest to add the language code as an id to table rows like so:

|- id="en"
| 1
| [[w:English language|English]]
| ....

with the net effect that we can append #zxx to the URl of this page and have our browser instantly jump to the language having the code zxx, our favorite, presumably. --Purodha Blissenbach 20:38, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Sounds good. And it may also be useful for other statistics of wikis by size, such as List of Wiktionaries/Table, Wikiversity, etc. --Kanjy 09:44, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

New 9 Wikipedias.Edit

We have 9 new Wikipedias: ext, gan, hif, kaa, mdf, myv, sah, srn, and szl. How can we notify the maintainer of the script collecting the current data to please add these? --Purodha Blissenbach 23:40, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Script brokenEdit

The script that generates this page appears to be broken, it keeps listing 0 admins for all wiki. Also it generates corrupt characters for the gothic wiki. --151.203.77.144 07:19, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

The number of images is also wrong. --88.90.192.177 18:37, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

who let duplicated languagesEdit

Please, people when update table information let duplicated language. when the language changes of position, it has passed an opportunity in which it has harmed the count, exceeding in one the real number of wikipedias. Please don't let duplicated language information!!!. Crazymadlover

Remove closed Wikipedias from the list?Edit

Some Wikipedia sites have been closed. Its contents have been moved to Incubator (f.e. 'hz') or moved to another provider (f.e. 'tokipona'). I think these entries should be removed from the list. Alternatively, all incubator projects should be added to this list, and links for closed projects should be changed to point to the main pages on Incubator or elsewhere. Siebrand 10:49, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

I agree with closed wikis removal. I am not sure about pointing to Incubator (maybe if new designated section was created in the bottom?). I am against linking to other providers - once it's not Foundation's project, it should not be on the list of Foundation's projects.
Danny B. 11:07, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
I agree with you Danny. Crazymadlover
Afaics, all relevant wikis hosted elsewhere are mentioned in the Deprecated, moved and other section. Imho that suffices.
Including incubator projects may be nice, but I doubt obtaining good counts automatically would be working at the moment. Possibly, an incubator statistics page should be generated and maintained on-wiki? We link to it, or occasionally copy it. --Purodha Blissenbach 18:34, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Pontic wikipediaEdit

Please include recent opened pontic wikipedia:

West FrisianEdit

West frisian has over 12 thousand good articles, but 31th august 2009, the table says only over 6 thousand. Please correct the table Crazymadlover.

Punjabi, Western Panjabi, Gurmukhi, ShahmukhiEdit

Please change the title of 'Western Panjabi' to 'Punjabi (Shahmukhi)' and 'Punjabi to 'Punjabi (Gurmukhi)' as it is appropriate description. Western Punjabi is a set of dialects which should not be confused with Shahmukhi which is Punjabi written in persio-arabic script. The wikipedia under 'Punjabi' is Punjabi in indic script which should be Gurmukhī script.

Updating the tableEdit

Hi. Updating the table can be done copy/pasting from here[3]. Emijrp 15:23, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

And how is that one created? I noticed some errors in the language names, but if I correct them here, I just get uncorrected the next time someone updates the page. It's really irritating. - Andre Engels 03:17, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Why can't be update list of Wikipedias ?--Teguh 03:32, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

s23.org server down????Edit

i can't update the page with the s23 ... does someone knows if it still working?? Akoon 23:13, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

No, it's not working.--Imrek 18:58, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunately had another downtime, but its back and updated now. Mutante 23:10, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Burmese name wrong spellingEdit

Spelling for Burmese language is မြန်မာစာ. Yet every time we corrected it, it went back to the wrong spelling မ္ရန္‌မာစာ. I think it was written in unused old Unicode encoding. Please look into it. Thanks. Lionslayer 19:22, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

frrwiki wrong nameEdit

The Local name of North Frisian (1000+) is "Nordfriisk". The expression "Frasch" means only one of the North Frisisan dialects. My correction in the list unfortunately was reverted. Please use the name "Nordfriisk" in future. For the background see: Bugzilla 2010-08-29 and Media Wiki --Murma174 10:16, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

This table is copies fro s23.org wiki. Can you contact them? Emijrp 11:28, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply! I contacted s23.org --Murma174 17:00, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi, i have "update wikipedias set loclang="Nordfriisk" where loclang="Frasch";" as requested. Mutante 23:16, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your speedy reaction! --Murma174 12:38, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

DepthEdit

I wondered what's the meaning on List of Wikipedias/Table: "Depth" on top of the right collumn. Could someoane explain it to me?--86.88.254.29 18:59, 15 January 2011 (UTC)Already found, thank you,--86.88.254.29 19:47, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Sortable??Edit

In some tables the Depth doesn't sort. --Pownerus 01:48, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

ZeelandicEdit

User:Mxn just pointed out that "Zealandic" is the wrong name for the language with code "zea". Who knew? See the evidence at en:Zeelandic. The name needs to be changed in the script that generates these stats. - dcljr 00:56, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Updated. Mutante 05:03, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

UpdatingEdit

Hi could someone change how the table work so tht we doint have to update the total amout of edits and articles and pages it would automatically update it Bluesky (talk) 11:19, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Lack of regular updatesEdit

Could you updaters and bots update this regularly. For example updating this every 24 hours at 00:00:00 UTC each day. 24.218.110.195 (talk) 01:22 23 April 2013 (UTC) 9:22pm 4/22/2013 EDT.

arz; Egyptian ArabicEdit

The Egyptian Arabic transliteration name needs to be written without a final i with macron (Maṣri) not (Maṣrī). It is very hideous that every time it is re-edited and I have to fix it (first time - second time and the third time). --Mahmudmasri (talk) 19:41, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

OK, how to edit it, so that the problem would be fixed? --Mahmudmasri (talk) 08:00, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
I think you have to look at the attention comment at the top of this page and then contact User:Mutante for that. --Geitost diskusjon 10:04, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
Take a look at User talk:Mutante#Egyptian Arabic Wikipedia. --Geitost diskusjon 11:10, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
No notices appeared to me. Confirm from that screen capture. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 12:31, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
It has been updated in this list, while it is still wrong on Wikilabs. Thanks for updating and not waiting any longer for Wikilabs. --Geitost diskusjon 19:21, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
OK, how to update it on Wikistats? --Mahmudmasri (talk) 17:29, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Error in "Grand total" number of articlesEdit

The current "Grand total" number of 38 547 867 is about 11 million too high (S23 gives it as 27 459 107). It appears that the error first occurred in this edit by EmausBot, which changed the number from 26 217 76 to 37 388 947 on April 13, and has been perpetuated since then. Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 00:08, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

The error seems to come from http://wikistats.wmflabs.org/display.php?t=wp . Filed as Bugzilla:50556. Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 06:41, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing this out. Can we make this clear in the list or table page as well, at least? :) --Elitre (talk) 07:27, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

New version of Bot's codeEdit

I introduced a new version of my bot's code. Now, it calculates all data itself instead of copying from wmflabs. In comparison with the previous version there are some changes:

  • added Minangkabau wiki
  • corrected some local language names, including the Egyptian Arabic
  • recalculated Grand Total

Please see the version and check the correctness of data. --Emaus (talk) 19:39, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

Very, very Good! Only, in the section "Grand Total" correct Images" in Images. --Antonio1952 (talk) 14:08, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Please change the local name of North Frisian (frr) from "Nuurdfresk" to "Nordfriisk" (and also the link). "Nuurdfresk" is correct in one dialect, but the general name is "Nordfriisk". Thanks in advance! --Murma174 (talk) 12:09, 19 August 2013 (UTC) (sysop and crat on frrwiki)
P.S. Mutante changed it already in his database. --Murma174 (talk) 12:15, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
As I see, the local article has title "Nuurdfresk". Would it be correct to link the title "Nordfriisk" with this article? --Emaus (talk) 09:56, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Not exactly. There is no standard variant in North Frisian, but "Nordfriisk" is an acknowledged common North Frisian name for all the different North Frisian dialects (a sort of 'meta name', also used for the frr-WP in general). So the link should direct to the local article w:frr:Nordfriisk (just a portal page, that leads to the several articles about the North Frisian language, written in several North frisian dialects) with the label 'Nordfriisk' -> [[:w:frr:Nordfriisk|Nordfriisk]]. Hope, I could clarify the situation a little bit. --Murma174 (talk) 09:58, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! It means a lot in the language community. --Murma174 (talk) 22:18, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Emaus, could you

  1. change table head "Images" to "Files" and table data "Special:Imagelist" to "Special:ListFiles"?
  2. provide a sortable version List of Wikipedias/Table/sortable as announced by User:Elitre (WMF) at Talk:List_of_Wikipedias#Sortable_table?

91.9.104.102 09:18, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Images is now Files, but "Special:Imagelist" is Special:Filelist" [4]

Recent edit of page by ՋոկերԲոտ has broken the formattingEdit

The recent edit of the page by ՋոկերԲոտ has broken the formatting of the page, leaving visible "class="plainlinksneverexpand" bits on all the data items in the tables. Attempting to revert the bad update resulted in a "This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Spambots" message. So if an Admin would please fix this... Rwessel (talk) 06:58, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Could you please...Edit

Hi, I notice Language (local) column of Acehnese Wikipedia (ace) refers to main page (not refers to local Bahsa Aceh article). It should be ace:Bahsa_Aceh Could you please change it? Thank you. — 👦 rachmatwhd talk 11:09, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

I moved this by mistake please change it backEdit

This is an embarrassing error, I meant to move the corresponding page top this on Wikipedia, and accidentally moved the meta version, because I failed to pay attention, I really am sorry, please revert the move back, I didnt intend to do this, this was an accident. Formatting and grand totalsEdit

How can the formatting for shading inactive wikis be changed? Can a column for "active users" be added to the grand totals? How are the totals generated? Bcharles (talk) 08:23, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

Wrong file countEdit

Table seems to have data as in Special:Statistics, but links to Special:Imagelist, which redirects to Special:ListFiles 91.9.110.98 23:30, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Reported to eswiki: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Caf%C3%A9/Archivo/T%C3%A9cnica/Actual#Especial:Estad.C3.ADsticas_-_Archivos_subidos 91.9.110.98 00:24, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

That's "normal", maintenance scripts are run regularly to fix such issues with article count. Maybe we need initSiteStats.php for files as well; the differences are usually minimal though. Nemo 07:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
@Nemo bis: The eswiki miscount exists for a long time in List of Wikipedias/Table, but a zero existed some time ago. Also three Wikis have negative values see List of Wikipedias/Table/sortable with ady = -10. Minimal diff, especially if too much is shown, is bad if there are zero files. Looking at mw:Manual:InitSiteStats.php I cannot see that this is not for files. The accompanying Manual:ShowSiteStats.php shows images. Who could run it on eswiki? 91.9.96.221 08:48, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

Statistics with action=rawEdit

Hello, what is the purpose of the "?action=raw" parameter in the link to each wiki's Special:Statistics page in the Articles column? I don't see it make any change (even if appended to /w/index.php instead) as the page is still displayed in HTML as usual (as when without the parameter). Should that parameter perhaps get dropped? --Blahma (talk) 21:02, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

The ?action=raw functionality of the Special:Statistics page was removed sometime around February 2011, I believe, athough I can't find a citation for this at the moment. It used to return a string like:
total=22715717;good=3514872;views=63208806;edits=434704217;users=13662364;activeusers=129188;admins=1766;images=854529;jobs=47117
but it hasn't worked that way for many years now. @Emaus: ?action=raw should be dropped from the links in the "Articles" column. - dcljr (talk) 01:56, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

New WikipediasEdit

Hi @Emaus:, there are 3 new Wikipedias: gor:, inh: and lfn:. Please, add them. Thanks. --Antonio1952 (talk) 20:07, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

What went wrong? (If this is going to be fixed in the next regular update, please disregard this message.) - dcljr (talk) 02:50, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
