Error in the tableEdit
There's an error at line 213 of the table (Doteli Wikipedia) where the native name and the English name of the language are inverted, which fucks up the links, but I don't know how to fix it. Basemetal (talk) 15:04, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Cebuano?Edit
What's happening with Cebuano, it has over 5 million articles! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 132.212.179.145 (talk) 22:59, 16 November 2017
- Hello,
- This is not a problem. The majority of the articles in the Cebuano Wikipedia have been created by a bot called Lsjbot. The English Wikipedia has an article about this bot: Lsjbot.

Kabiye WikipediaEdit
For Kabiye (kbp), the "Language" and "Language (local)" designations are the wrong way round on this list. The name of the language in English is 'Kabiye'. The name of the language in Kabiye is 'Kabɩyɛ'. Please can this be changed? Gnangbade (talk) 08:55, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

Why are there no updates for 00:00 & 12:00 14 January 2018 (UTC)? Is it out of order?--Kowlooner (talk) 12:50, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
"Total"Edit
? Total what? Bits/bytes/characters/words/edits? Apparently not articles, since there is a separate, smaller column for this category. I would correct this, but I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT SHOULD BE. 46.34.204.212 06:55, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi. Under the section "Notes" you will find the definition of "Total". -- Tegel (Talk) 07:14, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi. Yes, I popped in here in the beginning of the year when a user had a question. I have just reverted vandalism a couple of times so I have not contributed to the page in any way other than that. All users with a confirmed account can change and improve the page, so if you see anything that can be improved you could do it yourself as well. From the history of the page you can see who made the current structure. Just think of Etiquette if you contact them. -- Tegel (Talk) 16:02, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
New column "Views"Edit
Hello, everyone!
I have an idea to add a column with site views to the table. Here you can find it's first draft: List of Wikipedias/Table v2.
Please comment this. In case of approval here, I'm going to start an RFC with some additional options of the table modification. --Emaus (talk) 01:43, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
What's the point of simple English wikipedia?Edit
I get the gist of it, but it seems practically the same as the actual English. Not that "simple". Alex of Canada (talk) 00:48, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
- Look at several of the other longer, better quality articles there. You'd be surprised as to how simple the page is in comparison to its en.wiki counterpart. Unfortunately, we don't have too many active editors over there to keep all pages simple. hiàn 04:04, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

Uppercase missing at https://www.wikipedia.org/Edit

Albanian WikiEdit
It seems to have disappeared from the main list. I had to pick it up from the External Link at the top of the page (sq:Faqja kryesore).
Others may also have gone AWOL. The intro talks of 301/291 Wikis, but there are only 278 in the numbered list.

Rationale for "Never been an official Wikipedia"Edit
The "Never been an official Wikipedia" section now lists 3 wikis that were rejected as Wikimedia projects. Problem is, there are already hundreds of potential Wikipedias that have been rejected, and surely dozens more on the way. Any of them could be set up at Wikia or elsewhere and possibly be added to this list. We obviously don't want to list all of them here. So, what exactly are the criteria for inclusion in the "Never been an official Wikipedia" section on this page? Should the section even be here at all? - dcljr (talk) 21:59, 3 February 2019 (UTC)

Number of WordsEdit
Hi Emaus. Would it be possible to integrate also the number of words in all content pages in this table, which are evaluated in 'Special:Statistics' for some time now? Best regards, --Holder (talk) 12:09, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
- (Not an answer to your question, but might be helpful…) The information currently shown in the "All Wikipedias" table are all based on the raw stats accessible through the API. But it looks like the "Words in all content pages" number shown on Special:Statistics is provided by the CirrusSearch extension (see Community Wishlist Survey 2017/Miscellaneous/Word count on statistics and the links from there). I don't know how a script would access that number. Do you? Emaus, can you figure it out? - dcljr (talk) 01:45, 9 August 2019 (UTC)
Error in the table at Serial Number 162Edit
The language "Bhojpuri" ("भोजपुरी" in the Devanagari script)(Serial Number 162 in the table) has been misidentified as the group of over 11 languages, "Bihari" - which it belongs to. I don't know how to fix it, so somebody else please do. PolyRe167895432 (talk) 00:49, 07 November 2019 (GMT + 5:30 hrs)
- This seems to be because "bh" is the ISO language code for the Bihari language group (the Wikipedia subdomain in question is 'bh.wikipedia.org'), while Bhojpuri is "bho". Emaus would be the one to change this in the table (and he has just been "pinged" here). Note that the wiki was apparently created before there were clear rules about naming Wikimedia wikis (subdomains). A "bh" Wikipedia certainly would not be created today. There is already a Phabricator task (created in 2014) to change the subdomain from "bh" to "bho". Unfortunately, it is currently prohibitively difficult to perform such "renames" (I'm not sure why), so I wouldn't expect the subdomain itself to get "fixed" anytime soon. - dcljr (talk) 04:45, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
Should this be mentioned in the Cebuano Language article?Edit
A minority language in the southern Philippines having the second largest Wikipedia next to English, more than not only Filipino but Spanish, the Chinese dialects, Japanese, German, Russian, with significantly less users is both noteworthy and amazing. Does anybody believe it should be mentioned in w:Cebuano language? J390 (talk) 02:14, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- The proper place to ask this would seem to be en:Talk:Cebuano language. (Note that almost all articles on the Cebuano Wikipedia were created — and most only edited since — by a single bot, as you can verify by hitting "Random page" several times on that wiki and then "View history" on each page you come to. So the size accomplishment is not at all amazing. Whether it's noteworthy can be discussed elsewhere.) - dcljr (talk) 02:27, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
Correction to Old EnglishEdit

Selection of external linksEdit
@Dcljr: Hi. Can you explain what these links mean and why they are better than interwiki? Iniquity (talk) 23:12, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
- I don't know. I didn't put them there. But since they do not duplicate the interwiki links, they should not be removed with that justification. Perhaps others can comment here as to whether they are needed or not. - dcljr (talk) 00:12, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Meno25 and Antonio1952? Anyone else? - dcljr (talk) 23:47, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
For the record, here are the links provided by the "External links" table we are discussing, and the interlanguage links provided by Wikidata for the same languages (not counting 29 additional languages at Wikidata but not in the table):
This doesn't look to me like duplication. - dcljr (talk) 00:55, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Total page viewsEdit
Hi,
It would be great to add the number of page views. According to Wikimedia: "Page views on Wikimedia projects is our most important content consumption metric." so this metric should definitely figure in a list of Wikipedias. Data is available for each Wikipedia on Wikimedia Statistics, I guess it would be easy to automatically generate the figures for all Wikipedias and update the table accordingly.
What do you think?
Best,
Antoine, A455bcd9 (talk) 05:18, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

- Hello, @Emaus:, thanks for your swift answer: this list is great! However I don't understand where those numbers are coming from. For instance, for German it says "31,188,229" but if I click on the link provided the last value (July 10th) is 27,442,329. For this day, the value on Wikimedia Statistics is 40,411,904. Which is the same value as the one on toolforge if you select "Agent"="All" instead of "Agent"="User". I guess it doesn't change the ranking though but I'd like to understand where the differences come from. A455bcd9 (talk) 13:55, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- It's an average during the last year with "Agent"="User". --Emaus (talk) 16:17, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- Yes that's right I was only referring to the definition of "Active Users" used on this page. In any case, it would be great to add the definition of "Daily Views" somewhere. Does anything prevent Table2 from replacing Table on List of Wikipedias then? A455bcd9 (talk) 08:29, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

Help: Problem with Vietnamese Wikipedia (viwiki) [1]Edit
We have a problem with the depth calculation in our project. TuanminhBot created more than 15 million welcome pages (not sure the exact number) for new IP addresses who/which supposed to visit our project. Some IP addresses have never visited our project but still have a welcome page (and even for broadcast addresses, i.e, 1.1.1.255). We discuss and stop this action too late and this makes our project lost the real depth. Is there any solution?
- Automatically technical delete all welcome pages that IP addresses never visit our project
- Then, we can have our depth in real and honest calculation back.
Thank you! Alphama (talk) 12:13, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
Ok, let me know when it is finished. --Emaus (talk) 13:24, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
Such welcome pages can shorten the time for the Vietnamese IP to learn about how wikipedia works. Whenever they come to read wikipedia, a message appears, asking them to read the welcoming page. Therefore, these pages are useful to promote wikipedia and have trained the Vietnamese public about wikipedia in general. And it's effective forever because once it's created, it can be read by multiple people who use that dynamic IP.
In a country that has 30 million Internet users like Vietnam, these pages can be a cost effective solution for promotion. It could cost a lot of money and human efforts to promote wikipedia in Vietnam otherwise.
For depth, you can minus the total of page that TuanminhBot created and edited, then depth can be calculated as usual. Regards, Tuanminh01 (talk) 13:54, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- Multiple people will not read the message because they won't know it's there. There are better ways to do this, such as a short

message with some helpful links that can be hidden by the user. — Yerpo Eh? 12:58, 13 July 2020 (UTC)- We already had en:MediaWiki:Sitenotice in our project. Alphama (talk) 20:12, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
Just a few editors look at the Sitenotice, not mention the IPs, who are focusing on the article they see. Tuanminh01 (talk) 12:56, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- In my opinion there should be an RFC to discuss such propositions. --Emaus (talk) 16:01, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

The |count=10
tells how many to display. To display all count={{NUMBEROF|active|wikisource}}
(instead of "active" use "closed" for the closed sites; or "languages" to list active+closed). The rest is boilerplate. The table stats are current, updated 4x a day, and any projects added or removed are automatically accounted for. -- GreenC (talk) 03:48, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
Section below table "Deprecated, moved and other"Edit
Hello all, hello @Dcljr:, what exactly does the status "Deprecated" mean? Could we delete this? A proposal for a new named and sorted section please have a look in the sandbox. Feel free to make some changes there. Sorry for my poor English. --W like wiki (talk) 04:04, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
Southern Altai errorEdit
It looks like the "Language" and "Local Language" columns for Southern Altai (currently about no. 300 on the list) have become reversed: "алтай тил" is listed as the English version of the name and "Southern Altai" as the local version. Grutness (talk) 14:55, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
