Talk:Chapter agreements
I think the "date of creation" column is ambiguous. e.g., Currently it says the Canadian chapter was created November 2010, but it is April 2011 and the Board of Trustees has not yet approved creation of a Canadian chapter, which is the reason why a chapter agreement has not yet been signed, etc. Perhaps we might better have two columns, such as "date of incorporation" and "date of WMF approval"? - Good idea - done the formatting change, now all I need is content. Will ping internal-l. :-)

Actual content of the chapter agreements should be viewable by all Wikimedians
editThere is no explanation for retaining chapter agreements on Internal wiki, a project with extremely restricted access; essentially, it is a private wiki. However, chapter agreements are of interest to the Wikimedia community and movement generally, and should be transparent. I can understand not wanting to post them on Meta, where there may be undetected changes; instead, please post all chapter agreements that are in current effect on Foundation wiki, where they will at least be available for review by all Wikimedians. - I agree. Many chapters have published their own agreement on meta or their own wiki, but these agreements are almost always exactly the same text. Transparency is one of our core values. John Vandenberg (talk) 21:51, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
use and consolidation
editI cleaned up the table for readability; hopefully it will get a bit more use. This and the overall chapter status table would ideally be merged somehow into a single page with many different views of the data associated with each chapter. –SJ talk 03:23, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
Links to Internal wiki
editHi. There's 11 links to internal wiki on this page, mostly relating to individual Chapter Agreements that I don't think need to be kept private. Please can we look to making these documents public?
In fact, given that our movement is promoting more openness and transparency, perhaps it's time to close internal wiki and internal-l? User:Thehelpfulone/Internal links has a list of links to internal wiki on public wikis. Looking at that list, things like <http://internal.wikimedia.org/wiki/Chapters_Meetup_May_2008> linked from Chapters meetings don't appear to need to be private, given that all the other Meetups have been public since 2009. Something like <http://internal.wikimedia.org/wiki/Information_for_Future_Chapters> sounds like it'd be useful for users that are looking to create a chapter (information from that could possibly be added to Step-by-step chapter creation guide, for example. Outdated
editThis page was last substantively edited in 2015. It is therefore definitely outdated, and should either be brought up-to-date or marked as historical with a link to whatever is the current page documenting these. Asaf (WMF) (talk) 16:48, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
- +1. It seems there is no place to find updated chapters or affiliate agreements at the moment. Chico Venancio (talk) 01:35, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
