some days without articles edit

Should new Wiktionary definitions be included? edit

Dear Vassia,

On my project, Simple English Wikipedia, words that are not on Basic English word lists should be wikilinked, either to a Simple Wikipedia article or to a Simple Wiktionary definition, per project guidelines. For some words, neither exists. So I have also written some new Simple Wiktionary definitions. Should new Wiktionary definitions be included in my contributions to #100wikidays?

благодаря, Msannakoval (talk) 15:46, 2 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm fine with any adaptation of the #100wikidays, but I'd suggest that we list Wiktionary entries in a separate table from the Wikipedian ones :) Spiritia 10:15, 8 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

I agree @-;- HSK 88 (talk) 13:14, 7 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Medical articles edit

Hey All. For about a year and a half I have be working to write 3 to 4 paragraph overviews of medical conditions in English. Have nearly 150 with the list being here [Wikipedia:WikiProject_Medicine/Translation_task_force/RTT(Simplified)L] (they are basically the leads of the corresponding En articles).

We are working with a bunch of others to translate these 3 to 4 paragraphs into other languages. We have a bot that has gone through the first 50 to determine which have corresponding articles in other languages see here. This is also were we track our progress.

If anyone is interested in doing some translation as part of their 100wikidays challege we would love to have you join us. This is the number of medical articles at the end of 2013 in different languages [1]. There is still a lot of work to do :-) Best Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 11:27, 24 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bulky page. Split? edit

Hi @Spiritia: I think the Progress part is getting extremely bulky now with over 2200 entries. The page loads very slowly, and saves very slowly which results in frequent edit conflicts. I think we should split the table and archive the older entries to a subpage. Say, up to 2000. What do you think? Teemeah (talk) 09:21, 26 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Good idea! Please, be brave and do the needful. :) Spiritia 16:05, 26 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Ok, just didn't want to go all partisan you know :) Teemeah (talk) 18:33, 27 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not progress-reported days edit

Hello, everyone! :)

I forgot to log my progress on this page since April, but I did it on my local Wikipedia page. Is it okay for me to log it all here too (as I should have done) all the progress reports from April? Or is it better to keep this page in more or less a chronological list? --AgrisR (talk) 20:57, 28 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Spiritia: --AgrisR (talk) 21:10, 28 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Post all your pages on top. No need to renumber whole list. --Papuass (talk) 08:21, 29 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Actually, lots of people forget about daily logging their contributions. Which is not obligatory, actually. Some people skip it on purpose. Which is, well, still okay :) Spiritia 07:20, 1 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
But yes, @AgrisR:, please do update the master list as well. It helps keep track (and count) of the sum of our efforts, and helps inspire your colleagues! :) Ijon (talk) 01:59, 3 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
BTW, AgrisR is one of the youngest participants in this challenge (still needs 10 days) at the age of 14 (as stated in his userpage). --Papuass (talk) 10:22, 3 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Applauses for AgrisR! :))))) Spiritia 14:08, 4 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for all the polite comments! Really appreciate it! :) --AgrisR (talk) 14:11, 5 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

"No preparation of articles in advance."? edit

What's the point of that criterion? Is the whole idea of this wikichallenge to maximise the disruption of anyone user's IRL activities? Or is it to encourage improvements to Wikipedia? If it's the latter, I see no point in prohibiting necessary research into article subjects in advance. I don't believe badly edited stub articles is beneficial to anyone. Best of wishes.--Paracel63 (talk) 15:36, 31 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

You are free not to accept the challenge, if you find it too challenging. This is a specific format, and only few people start it (and even fewer complete it). Best of wishes to you, too. :) Spiritia 23:31, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
See IAR. I found it rewarding to do it "proper way", by allocating time each day, even if location and social activities limited me. --Papuass (talk) 15:22, 20 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Can I set a start date earlier than today? edit

Hi, I have just seen this challenge today, and I think I might complete it eventually. I have in fact the last week already created some new articles every day - can I count them in, or would that be seen as cheating? --Arne (Amjaabc) (talk) 07:31, 27 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Arne, and welcome to our crazy little community :) I think that once you have put your neck on the block (and have the faith that you will be able to make them 100), you should forget about the one or two written in advance, and start from Day 1, today. :) Keep up the good work (on a daily basis, hihi)! Cheers, Spiritia 15:51, 27 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
No worries! I have the first one ready. And even if I wrote one new immediately before signing up, I wrote one more after signing. So everything should be fine. :-) --Arne (Amjaabc) (talk) 17:44, 27 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Late registration and completion edit

Hi. I have just found out about this challenge. I have been creating a minimum of one article a day since the 6th of december 2015, so if I am calculating it correct I actually finished the 15th of March 2016. How do I put my data into the scheme? I have continued creating articles ever since, so I have passed 200 days of new article - is there a round two? Toxophilus (talk) 19:07, 26 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Archive edit

Hello. Everytime I have to complete my daily progress I have problems with that because the table has too much weight and I spend a lot of time. Do you think that it would be a goog idea to archive the table? --Millars (talk) 11:18, 26 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Archiving edit

Hello all... Some of the 6000's should be archived... It tooked me 15 minutes to add a line today... The table becomes impossible to edit... :) --Ernest-Mtl (talk) 03:24, 1 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I had the same problem and I decided to archive 500 items.   Done --Millars (talk) 10:08, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Your article got deleted edit

Hi Spiritia, I have a hypothetical question. What happens if one or more articles got deleted? Meursault2004 (talk) 07:03, 29 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Never heard of such a case so far, frankly speaking. I guess that the author should at least take into consideration the reasons for deletion and do not allow this happen again. As far as the challenge is concerned, I'd leave it to the personal evaluation of the situation whether new articles are to be written as a replacement, or a request for undeletion and help for their improvement. :) Spiritia 18:24, 29 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

User Aristo Class edit

Hello everyone! I would like to bring to your attention that Aristo Class was able to write 148 articles between the period 9/4/2016 to 10/23/2016 and counting... :P He is a valuable member of the Greek wikipedia and we are all very proud for his achievement ! Since we can ignore all rules regarding the 100 wikidays challenge, I think that he's entitled the recognition for his wonderful work. Thank you :) --Ανώνυμος Βικιπαιδιστής (talk) 22:54, 23 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Can't edit edit

Hi, I would like to participate in this challenge and I started it today, but I can't add myself to the list because it's too slow. Could someone help me, please? --Thejuusoboy (talk) 15:31, 6 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Thejuusoboy, I think it starts slowing down after about 500 records in the table, but it is being regularly archived by the older victims ;) So, don't hesitate but join at your earliest convenience :) Spiritia 06:35, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Any other challenges available? edit

I've been adding articles at the rate of more than one a day for more than five years, but in batches uploaded from time to time (mostly on the last day of each month), rather than one article uploaded on each day (tabulation of the most recent year here). Is any challenge available for that sort of pace? It's possibly not as hectic as a one-a-day-on-every-day commitment, but it's relentless in its own way. IacobusAmor (talk) 20:26, 14 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, IacobusAmor, very detailed and neatly organized list of versatile contributions, I like it! Please link to it in the Similar initiatives section, so that more people can notice it and get inspired to follow your example :) Spiritia 06:34, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

100wikicommonsdays credits edit

Hello 100wikicommonsdayers and 100wikidayers!

I think it's a great oversight that we haven't given credits for the idea of 100wikicommonsdays challenge based on the original idea of Spiritia, to Saintfevrier who started adding photos and videos for 100 days, as a lighter version of 100wikidays (alas she wasn't able to complete it). You can read more about her initiative here. Thank you Saintfevrier & Spiritia for the beautiful ideas. You can also read in my blog about my personal 100wikicommonsdays journey and the difficults with the restrictions with taking photos here in Greece here (it's in Greek, I'm sorry but I will be happy to answer any question). Happy editings to everyone! Ανώνυμος Βικιπαιδιστής (talk) 15:35, 22 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Help, what should I do? edit

Hi all, and hi dear @Spiritia:, I have Two questions:

  1. On 2017-09-23 I have started a project of writing 1,000 articles in a year (My First 1,000 wiki days progress report). It took me a bit longer - and I finished on 2019-03-29. It is not strictly 100 wikidays (as there are some gaps) but in it there are a few "100"'s. I have not listed them here: 100wikidays#Progress. what should I do? (@Ijon: what do you think)?
  1. on 2019-04-01 I have started a new challenge - a 1,000 wiki days (I hope I can survive it) - (My second 1,000 wiki days progress report), I have reached day 72, and not listed them here: 100wikidays#Progress. Must I do that. can you just add them to the total count? Deror avi (talk) 16:50, 12 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Wikinews edit

I am already on the list in the Wikipedia section (which I stopped at after about 70 days caused by router problems which prevented me to continue at the time and frustrated as much as I even did not add the latest additions after I regained internet access a week or two later) so I know how to add entries on the list on the front. But what is supposed to do with Wikinews articles? List them among the wikipedia articles? And, if I am right, wikinews authors obviously do add wikidata q-entries only if an interwiki link is needed. Should I create a q-entry anyway for the purpose of listing it here? --Matthiasb (talk) 21:03, 15 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

#100WikiDays and #1000Wikidays Challenge edit

Hi, I intends to take #100WikiDays and #1000Wikidays Challenge from January 1, 2020. Expand one-sentence articles edit

So my home wiki has tons of one-sentence articles, including one on almost every muncipality of Switzerland. They were created ages ago by a user who didn't speak Romansh and many of them don't even makes sense language-wise. So if were to take them on, would I be eligible to take part in #100wikidays? I mean, since I'm basically starting from zero, it should be okay, right? And it has an additional benefit for our Romansh wikipedia. --Andreas (talk) 13:11, 19 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
