If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval.

No issues with eligibility. --Sotiale (talk) 09:53, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
  • The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
  • The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

Proposal edit

Balinese is a Indonesian language spoken in Bali. The language has more than 3,000,000 speakers worldwide.[1]

Balinese language has a complex speech level like Javanese, the number of speakers at the lowest level of language knowledge has the largest number of speakers, the number of speakers decreases as the language level increases, although the language level is very commonly used, especially for older people and strangers , over time the use of vocabulary is more often replaced by the use of Indonesian and foreign language terms.[2]

In order to survive the Balinese language needs to interpret terms from other languages so that it is more flexible to use, efforts for preservation need to be carried out by government and non-government organizations.[3] To support conservation efforts, an online dictionary is needed that is able to be integrated with the Wikipedia and Wikispecies, so that readers can understand the terminology used on Wikimedia project.

The book and source that can make a guide in compiling the Balinese Language Wiktionary are:

  1. Partami, Ni Luh; Sudiana, I Madé; Sukayana, I Nengah; Purwiati, Ida Ayu Mirah (2016), Kamus Bali-Indonesia (3rd edition), Balai Bahasa Bali.
  2. Granoka, Ida Wayan Oka; Astra, I Gde Semadi; Bagus, I Gusti Ngurah; Jendra, I Wayan; Medera, I Nengah; Ginarsa, Ketut., (1985), Kamus Bali Kuno-Indonesia (1st Edition), Pusat Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Bahasa, Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan.
  3. Other sources such as websites in Balinese (suarasakingbali.com and many blogs in Balinese)
