Fair use

edit

As indicated by the lack of any discussion of it this is not a terribly mature page. The "must be free" clause prohibits the use of fair-use images such as logos and icons of partners and award-grantors who have recognized or contributed to Wikipedia, its sister projects, or the Foundation. I don't see a reason for this, and expect that fair use is most appropriate for related pages such as the Trophy box and any contributors or partners page we should put up. +sj | help with translation |+ 00:29, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please discuss policy on Meta:Babel, to ensure wider input. Individual policy talk pages are not sufficiently watched for meaningful discussion. —{admin} Pathoschild 01:57:56, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Wikia Wiki project

edit

I have plan to create this article, but I don't know is it relevant for this project... Is it? --Aleksa Lukic 20:35, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Attack

edit

What is a "dedicated attack page"? I am conducting a review of things (it is widening as I write here) and am considering moving it to Meta, as it concerns the Foundation and projects as a whole, and is not necessarily encyclopedic or Wikipedia-related (I was blocked from editing Meta and Wikisource, due to incompetence of a Wikipedia admin, for example.) But, I point out, things are likely to come up which may be considered as an "attack", even a "personal attack", such as questioning the competence of an editor, group of editors, formal and quasi-formal entities, etc. It is an important question, as one must also ask, if it is, can one "attack one's self?" by calling into question one's own competence, and being repeated by others, etc. It is quite an ambiguous word to have no explanation. Meta: partnerships, ideas, and draft proposals, past and future

edit

Relevant topics that I think have long been part of meta, but aren't mentioned here:

Partners and collaborators, past and future

edit

Meta has traditionally also been a place for things like:

  • describing potential partners + partnerships;
  • describing projects that we could partner with by importing from or sharing knowledge with them;
  • discussing potential grants or events
  • discussing other relevant knowledge projects [including "non-WM wikis"] that overlap w/ our mission
    Looking at the history, this addition seems undiscussed, can be moved to a discussion here.

Proposed projects, which might or might not start life as WM projects

edit
  • new project proposals
  • strategy proposals (including those not implemented)
  • education, archive, or event ideas of interest to our community

Someone vandalized the page with tnt?

edit

No, I'm not joking because that's not what I quite mean, I mean he changed it to TNT policy? Was this vandalism or does this have any meaning? TheParticularYoutuber (talk) 10:09, 17 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

user space

edit

what is allowed in our user space? i for a notice citing this when i tried to create a page, but it seems to be a generic notice that's mostly about pages in main space. Irtapil (talk) 17:23, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

User spaces are primarily to publish information about how a contributor will broadly interact with Wikimedia projects and the Wikimedia Foundation, along with draft/test sandboxes related to the same. In general, it is not a replacement for local project specific work. Regarding your "notice", what is the exact notice and when does it appear? — xaosflux Talk 11:17, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Irtapil: please see help:user page and global user pages for something that more generally relates to metawiki. Of course you can have your local stuff here for your local project work, you can talk about yourself globally, though we wouldn't have your detail for other wikis, especially due to the global nature of metawiki user pages.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:59, 19 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
