I am a developer on the Wikidata project. In personal capacity, I am already an admin on meta wiki (and enwiki and commons) as User:Aude but don't want to use those rights in staff capacity. We are running a logo competition for Wikidata and need to edit the edit notices and setup the voting pages. We also have a fairly extensive set of notes and pages for Wikidata here on meta wiki. It would be useful to be able to take care of them, such as move over redirects and other simple and uncontroversial actions that require admin rights. Temporary adminship for just the logo competition (say end of July or August?) is okay, or if for the entire duration of the project, then through end of March 2013. I don't care which. Cheers. - Just to add, I obviously won't do unrelated or (even remotely) controversial actions with a staff account. With my personal account, I sometimes do speedy deletions and such but will certainly keep it all separate. Cheers. Katie Filbert (WMDE) (talk) 17:09, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- As Katie is a trusted user and already an admin here on Meta-Wiki (and enwiki/commons, but let's face it adminship here is much harder than those wikis ;-) ), I am happy to grant the rights until the end of March 2013. As this is not an urgent request, I will wait for a short while for comments from others. The Helpful One 17:08, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Perhaps you mean CentralNotice instead of editnotice? Otherwise other projects won't notice the process. Anyway, I'm happy with the proposed temporary adminship by Thehelpfulone. Regards. — MA (audiencia) 19:12, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Nope, I meant edit notices which only admins can edit. Though it might be a good idea to do a brief CentralNotice. (logged-in only) If admin, I could take care of that. Katie Filbert (WMDE) (talk) 19:37, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I preferr CentralNotices rather than EditNotices as CentralNotices have a lot of integrated options such as expiry time, default languages and can also be set so it's viewable only for anon. or registered, or both. Anyway, feel free to use whichever you think it's better for the project. Regards. — MA (audiencia) 19:42, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I think you might perhaps be confused. Examples of edit notices include en:Template:Editnotices/Page/Barack_Obama, the message which appears above the edit window when editing that article. In our case, we have a page for each logo for voting, and when clicking edit, it shows the logo and voting instructions. (User:Denny Vrandečić (WMDE)/Logo voting/Logo 33 votes/Editnotice) They serve different purposes, but think we also should do CentralNotice. Cheers. considering that to my memory (just short of back to the ice age) Katie never did (or said) anything really controversial on anything anywhere and that i do not regret to have voted for her in 2011, i agree with Thehelpfulone here, regards --Jan eissfeldt (talk) 21:19, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you all for your comments, closing as successful, with rights to expire 23:59 UTC, 31 March 2013. Katie is authorised to do any admin work as required as part of her staff role in the Wikidata project, including, but not limited to, Central Notice and edit notice work.
