I'm requesting admin rights on this account primarily for the editinterface
right. I'm hoping to bring a set of gadgets around my own work to the MediaWiki namespace on Meta (e.g. Wiki labels and UIs for accessing ORES) and to do general mopping when I am available to help. I have a high expertise Javascript and a relatively good understanding ResourceLoader and performance characteristics of MediaWiki. I've also been around Wikimedia for a long time and I actively contribute in its social spaces. I'm not sure I'll be the most active admin, but I'd like to help. --EpochFail (talk) 22:36, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
- About EpochFail
- My name is Aaron Halfaker and I am currently working for the Wikimedia Foundation as a Research Scientist. See my staff account: User:Halfak (WMF). I have global "staff" rights on that account, but I don't think it is appropriate to use that for anything but my official role at the WMF. I have been active in the Wiki tool development community since 2007. I'm also highly active in the Research namespace on Meta. See my contributions there. I'm also an OAuth administrator on Meta and a file mover on Commons.

- Support Javascript skills etc. will be most welcome, and an effort to bring useful gadgets here is much appreciated. Longtime Wikipedian, I have a strong positive impression (if not intimate familiarity) with past work. -Pete F (talk) 23:11, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
- Sure, the Central notice administrators group also has
editinterface
. Would that be more useful for you instead of full administrative duties? Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 23:40, 29 January 2016 (UTC)- I wouldn't be against that more limited group. I'd also do my best (in limited time) to do other admin mopping work if you were to agree to regular adminship, but I'll admit that I probably won't have time to contribute substantially beyond technology support and the occasional admin action that someone needs around the Research namespace (or wherever they find me). --EpochFail (talk) 17:00, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- Support for regular adminship (and I think the whole package of tools could be useful) if that's what he wants. (obvious implied support for centralnotice, of course). Courcelles 03:30, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

- Support - technical help is always welcome. We have a lot of scripts and gadgets outdated. I wonder if you would like to help on that too. It'd be great. Best regards. —MarcoAurelio 19:01, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- I'd definitely be interested. Time is a big constraint for me as I'm pulled pretty thin between research, engineering and wiki-work, but I'd be happy to advise and do minor hacking generally to keep things working. It might be nice to prioritize a few scripts for work during a hackathon as it's usually easier for me to block off some substantial time for those. I wonder if there is a sort of to-do list somewhere that I can draw some tasks from. --EpochFail (talk) 17:00, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
