Abusefilter

Hello. I don't know where abusefilter is discussed. I wonder if a filter !("autoconfirmed" in user_groups)& ("Redirect" in summary) (throttled) would be useful.[1] Hillgentleman 20:16, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Non-autoconfirmed users can not move pages according to Special:ListGroupRights. If page-move vandalism is becoming a problem, perhaps someone could import this filter from en.wiki. Nakon 22:18, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Notice that none of the actions in my link given is a page move. I am talking about redirecting a large number of pages to another (vandalism-sounding) page. Hillgentleman 22:27, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Can we use simpler English

I don't know whether this is the correct place to post this but I can't find a suitable talk page... Anyway, as we know MetaWiki is supposed to be multilingual, but most of it was in English. At the same time there are many en-1 en-2 users, especially those who come to ask for help rather than to take part in a discussion. They can hardly understand certain slang or phrases. For example, on Steward requests/Checkuser, I think it will take a long time for a non-native english speaker to find out what a w:WP:DUCK is, or what magic pixie dust is, or what do stewards mean when The CheckUser Magic 8-Ball says. So why can't we just make it simple and straightforward?—Bencmq 15:46, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello, I don't know what it means either, and I usually explain my reasonings, but I suggest to just ask or ask for the help of a translator if a result given by a checkuser is not clear. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I think sometimes I can't find a translator easily. So simple English is good for me..--Fantasticfears 15:54, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
This is one reason I favour use of the indicator templates shown at the top of SRCU. They are short phrases with clearly-defined meanings and an icon for further clarity. If localization of the text is necessary, that can and should be added. However, we are always willing to help by using simpler English, another language, or finding someone to help translate where necessary - just ask when something isn't clear.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 19:40, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I for one always try my best on multilingual projects to speak in simpler English. If you don't understand what someone is saying you can always ask them. Majorly talk 21:39, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Most of the Checkuser indicator templates are good. But some are "inside jokes". I admit partial responsibility for that, I brought the lot of them over, way back when. Maybe the jokes need explaining, I don't know. But in general I agree. Simple phrasing is a good idea. ++Lar: t/c 16:39, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

File:ExperimentTORIS 1982.jpg

Please delete this image page. The image exists on Commons not locally, this page was just created and protected by Brion to stop the image being uploaded here incorrectly. Since that was back in 2006 I don't think we can expect that problem to continue and it is no longer necessary to create a page to protect it so this page can be deleted. Doing so will stop it showing up in Special:UncategorizedFiles. Thanks. Adambro 10:34, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

We have a page for this sort of request, Meta:Requests for deletion shortcut WM:RFD. In future these sorts of requests probably should go there. However this seems reasonable to me, so I did it. It can be undeleted if someone thinks I erred. ++Lar: t/c 16:41, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Import portuguese version of Help:Displaying a formula

Hi!

I would like to know if is it possible to import b:pt:Ajuda:Marcação TeX to Help:Displaying a formula/pt with all the history of that page? From time to time I've been updating the portuguese translation of Help:Displaying a formula at pt.wikibooks. But I think that page could became more visible here at meta (for all Wikimedia projects). Helder 20:27, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it can be imported via Special:Import, ask this users for assistance. Regards, —Dferg (talk) 17:06, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
