Why do you need photo walk with participants? Do you think that no one will participate if you don't organize photo trip and pay for the costs of it? Regards, -- Violetova (talk) 12:58, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
- Dear, @Violetova: We need the photo walk because to have access to some parks we need a group of people so that we can take photos and take information about it. Also the photo walk is needed to help Wikipedian interact between them not only in workshops or conference but also in activities like this for the first time. This is the first time that Tunisia participate in Wiki loves earth for that we are trying to gather people in a trip in different places and initiate the sense of capture and uploading photos about earth, and encourage them to participate in other Wiki loves projects. -- Hamed gamaoun (talk) 14:45, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Hamed, it is OK with me. I asked because in my country for photo contest we do not gather participants together, so I was curious. The participants are free to take photos from where they want and when they can do that. They are free to upload even old photos taken by them. I woudl like to suggest that consider a strategy, as part of your recurring initiative, to get returning contributors both on the written content and photographic content , that you also try to get written content about your subjects submitted in more then one language project like arabic, french, enlgish , Success with your project --DerekvG (talk) 17:47, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
- Dear, @DerekvG: We are planning to make workshops about uploading the photos also writing and editing articles in known languages in Tunisia: Arabic, French and English about the places where we will take photos. Also, we are aiming to encourage people to take notes and information about other places so we can enrich the articles. 25 participating - do you mean 25 users participating? If yes, do you expect them to upload 80 images in average to upload 2000 photos been a target? Seems that users participating target is too low or total images number is too optimistic rubin16 (talk) 12:20, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- Dear @Rubin16:, Concerning the target of 2000 photos are estimated to be uploaded during the contest is optimistic, but we are aiming that one or more photos of the 25 participants in the two photos walk will be ranked in the international contest, so we reach the number of 1000 photos uploaded will be satisfied because it's our first time to participate, but hopefully we reach our goal, Regards -- Hamed gamaoun (talk) 13:49, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

- I'd already wondered, and you mention in your "Risks" section, about the issue of low levels of participation. I'm sure you'll do your utmost to attract the busload- and boatload fulls of participants for the activities themselves. That would indeed be a waste if they were a third full.
- Will you be posting specific advice to participants about photographic quality, basic tips on how to frame and focus, etc? (Do you think these learning patterns on Meta are useful, or not? We're keen to hear your comments. And do they need to be translated into French and Arabic?Working with cultural institutions to upload archival photographs, Photographing your local buildings, Improving your building photography. Perhaps one or two are too specific to other parts of the world? Unsure.
- Have you surveyed the relevant Wikipedias and Commons (what are the relevant Wikipedias?) for articles that need images, and for categories that are poorly served? Could this be set out online for participants?
- US$100 seems a little high for a "streamer". I suppose I can cope with the t-shirts, but usually I object to merchandise.
- Any chance of a press release for your prize-giving ceremony—or even to get coverage before the events? The WMF can assist in the writing of press releases, and if I can do it roughly through google translate, I would provide advice on any drafts.

- We are Sure that we will have the right amount of participants in the photo walks, and the participants will be present in our first workshop.
- Concerning photographic tips and quality, we will have a number of professional photographs among us in the Workshop and during the photo walks to give advice and tips about photography, also it will be good to translate the learning patterns into French and Arabic.
- Encouraging people to upload photos and the photo walks are helpful because these parks situated in different region in Tunisia, and articles about these regions lack of photos and information, so these project will be a great part to enrich these articles with the information and commons.
- The price of streamer can be reduced with negotiations, for the t-shirts is a tool to unify and have an easy access to parks, also a promotional thing for giving idea to the local communities about these project and its impact.
- As being the first time Tunisia will be participating in Wiki Loves Earth, a press release being written and giving to the local press and website to be publish about our first workshop, also we are calling TV channels to be present during our first workshop to promote these project. Also all media will be present hopefully during the prize-giving ceremony.
- Hamed, thanks. Concerning No. 2, a formal process for presenting advice for beginners and intermediates, and questions-and-answers, would be great—even if during the trip, like while waiting for the ferry, and planned so everyone knows it will happen. Just a thought. And concerning No. 3, I just wonder whether people know enough about what photographic subjects/themes to target when you let them loose in the national parks. I'm sure you'll tell them. I guess the question is "What is already uploaded and used in articles?". Probably not much, but it would be nice for them to know. On that matter, will it be possible to encourage some editors to help with categorising and writing descriptions of the uploaded pics? For that purpose, Arabic, French, and English would be lovely, but I know that's asking a lot (maybe priority pics could be identified after uploads, and you could have a team work through those?)

- Dear @Tony1:, Thank you.In response to your questions,concerning No 2, We will be Q&A sessions about photography and tips and basics of capturing landscapes after the workshop and presentation session, we will count about participants to ask questions, also during the trips we will be more questions. Concerning No 3, During the information session we will show the participants what missing to capture, also give them them the liberty to capture more landscapes to enrich Wikimedia commons, with the coop with guides in these regions. and concerning editors will be present with us during the trips, also we are planing more workshops about editing in Wikipedia for these participants in English, French and Arabic and using as reference their uploaded photos. Hi Hamed gamaoun. Thank you for this grant request and in engaging in the discussion. It's great to see the user group participating in Wiki Loves Earth! It would be great to have a few more details on the budget:
- How many people do you expect to participate in the photo walks?
- What is the breakdown of the award costs?
- What is the "streamer"?

- Concerning the photo walks, we are already rent a bus contains 50 places to our first photo walk and we're expecting 40 to 50 people to participate.
- Concerning the award costs, there will be prices for four best photos, first place with 500 TND, second place with 400 TND , third place with 200 TND and fourth place with 100 TND.
- Concerning "streamer", it's the kakemonos (sorry for the mistake) , we will make two of them, one with the logo of Wikimedia Tn User Group and the other for Wiki Loves earth to use them for more projects(Wiki Loves Earth ..)
