summary

The objective of the project was achieved as we have been able to create a space for the communities in South Africa , Tanzania and Rwanda and we promoted the culture of an equitable inclusion for the members of Swahili, Zulu and Kinyarwanda Wikimedia Communities , where we were able to make ties in the 3 communities collaboratively sharing their views on the movement governance, the movement charter and making translations of these very important documents in the 3 languages . The conversations focused on Recommendation 4, Initiative 24, where pairing two by two communities gave an opportunity to share and exchange the views on the specific topic of the Movement Charter and Equity in Decision making.

and in-person conversation have been organized in each and every community in order to have a common understanding even before beyond their communities

We were privileged to receive in our conversations different wikimedia staff and the communities leaders from other regions and they made a very important contribution.

Team composition Context of Kinyarwanda community (Rebecca)

Newbie , in the context of Wikimedia Kinyarwanda community, we have initiated an onboarding program which so far is a group of 25 people who joined the movement ( ”each community , language did the judgement based on their context , the intension was make them have the sense of responsibility to be aware of the conversations going on and contribute their ideas and perspectives in terms of how they see their future and their involvement in the governance of the movement.

MCDC ambassador : they contributed as a conversation moderator giving insights to the participants the progress and the background of the movement charter and the reason why the participants should go beyond the basic knowledge and participate fully in the leadership roles of the movement in our community and on the global stage.

Inclusion : In our context in Rwanda , we have identified the physical handicap as one of the barriers to the achievement of the inclusion we want , as an example , we have so far organized a project in which 10 people with different disabilities participated , one of represented their views and perspectives especially when it comes to leadership and opportunities gaps , friendly policies towards the people living with disabilities.

Translator : the knowledge and skills in translations of Kinyarwanda and English languages was the basis for the choice and having an understanding of the movement charter have been an added value as part of the conversations.

Secretary : the conversations needed a recording and summary of the conversation in the native language and English

Leader of the community : For the sake of engagement and follow up , the leader of the community participated in the conversation to inspire the newbies , coordinate the conversations and take the feedback to a higher level in the decision making process

3 representatives of the community who will be responsible for the communication , the community engagement and logistics for a smooth conversation and resources allocation were also part of the conversations . the same logic applied in swahili communities and zulu communities with specific context in terms of equity and the set up of each and every community

the following participated in the leadership and moderating the conversation in various communities

1.- Project coordinator: Nyinawumuntu Jeannette, RebeccaRwanda. Rebecca was responsible for grant writing , planning , coordinating activities in the region and following up on the best practices synergies to implement community engagement in MC Conversations and Translations.

2.Bobby Shabangu User:Bobbyshabangu|He ensured that Online training & documentation, Translations Community online meetup conversation facilitation are well organised , he was also the Zulu community organizer

4.Antoni Mtavangu - Jadnapac worked on Documentation on (metapages)/Translation and online facilitation and he was Swahili community organizer

Finances

The financial grant was paramount in smoothly conducting the conversation as the means of transport and the internet facility was provided which enabled the community members in the zulu , swahili and kinyarwanda
