To ensure that our communities within our underrepresented region are fully engaged in conversations about the governance of the movement

We aim to hold detailed conversations and translation of Movement charter materials and updates , objecting to inspire our three communities and enable new volunteers to learn about for different types of elected roles. by ensuring the awareness on leadership positions and ways of accessing them. in a well documented way transparent, and accessible in our local languages. We aim to achieve the cultural diversity by cultural exchange sessions in our various communities and peer to peer learnings.

Project Background edit

When do you intend to begin this project and when will it be completed?
28th March, 2024 - 25th April, 2024
Where will your project activities be happening?
Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania (online)
Are you collaborating with other communities or affiliates on this project?

Please provide details of how partners intend to work together to achieve the project goal.

The Tanzanian Swahili Wikimedians Community MC Ambassadors will be collaborating with the Rwandan Kinyarwanda Wikimedia community and South Africa Wikimedia community to implement this project. The essence of this collaboration is to ensure and to encourage the collaborative efforts in knowledge sharing and cross-cultural practices.

What specific challenge will your project be aiming to solve? And what opportunities do you plan to take advantage of to solve the problem?

We aim to tackle the challenge of lack of information and engagement our 3 communities have towards the leadership of our movement by making sure all materials related to the equity in the decision making process are availed and translated in our local languages. Mainly we will discuss and have conversation for purpose and sense of belonging to the Movement Charter and Movement Strategy Initiatives in our region. The Swahili , Kinyarwanda and Zulu languages are not yet visible enough on various wiki projects, including meta pages Additionally, Many community members are unaware of the Movement Charter because they haven't had in-depth discussions about it. This lack of communication means they don't know how, when, or where to share their thoughts on the movement's activities and how they are affected by them.

Does this project aim to apply one of the examples shared in the call for grants and if so which one?

Are there any other details you would like to share? and any other similar information, that will give more context on your proposed project.

NB Yes as different communities in the region which are having different currencies we would love to ask that these fund should be sent in US Dollars to easy and maintain the budget distribution facilitation among different communities. we believe that singles currency as in US dollar will help us more in this transfers , then if applicable send the funds of 2000 total USD instead of Rwandan francs because it will involves may exchanges which will cause imbalance.
