6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

In the April-September 2024 term, our major challenge revolves around capacity development. This is pivotal in navigating our long-term vision to address representation gaps in global Muslim academia, scholarship, history, and culture within Wikimedia projects. Additionally, we aim to provide strategic direction to fellow affiliates within the movement.

We have implemented several initiatives, such as organizing a monthly open conversation hour, designed for the strategic development of our organization and assisting other developing affiliates in establishing their foundations. Moreover, we have initiated collaborative projects like "Deoband Yoruba Collaborative Project" and "DCW-K Editathon", and most recently launched "Wiki Loves Muslim Academia", the first edition of which focuses on Indic-language wikis. Our contributions also extend to assisting in the future growth and development of the "Wiki Club Jamia" at Jamia Millia Islamia.

We have introduced Heritage Lens to facilitate the documentation of Muslim heritage on Wikimedia Commons, placing a strong emphasis on training our members in copyright and other ethical considerations. Looking ahead to the April-September 2024 term, we are gearing up for approximately ten offline and in-person training sessions focused on capacity development. These sessions will not only contribute to our organizational growth but also facilitate the establishment of additional clubs and the creation of well-established Wikimedians.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. 9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities? (required)

The target participants are students and academicians from Muslim minority institutions and madrasas. This notably includes the volunteers at Wiki Club Jamia which we helped establish on 29 October 2023 as a part of our leadership development program. Our agenda involves helping a few more Wiki Clubs and actively involving students in a range of free knowledge activities.

We plan on engaging the participants through our monthly conversation hours, productive activities such as training workshops and edit-a-thons. Maintaining follow up communication using our our mailing list, while also fostering a sense of community through platforms such as Telegram groups. DCW effectively utilizes social media to stay connected with its members, consistently reaching out to attract new individuals into our community.

We firmly believe that appreciation is the key to nurturing a thriving and expanding community. We value and cherish our community, recognizing the incredible dedication of our volunteers. As a token of our appreciation, we have curated a range of merchandise that serves as another form of recognizing and honoring our dedicated volunteers
