editCentral Notice admin comments
edit@Luky001: Sadly, there are several problems with this particular banner. First of all, CentralNotice/Usage_guidelines mandates the landing page needs to be at a site owned by WMF, its affiliates or trusted volunteers identified to the Foundation. docs.google.com meets none of those requirements.
Also, since this is a survey, this is not eglible to be reviewed by community appointed CN admins, but requires review and approval of the Wikimedia Foundation. This requires requesting the banner at least 21 days in advance. Pinging Seddon (WMF) and Quiddity (WMF). --Martin Urbanec (talk) 10:23, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Luky001: Hi. My apologies for the late reply. I do have some potentially useful information though. There's some pre-existing research that might be helpful to you here: c:File:New_Editor_Experiences_summary_of_findings,_August_2017.pdf
- While the study above was from data collected in South Korea and the Czech Republic, the challenges faced by new editors are fairly common experiences globally (see the "Facing Challenges" section, starting page 23). This might be a starting point for the Slovak community to examine your new editor experiences and design your survey. If you still have questions, please feel free to contact User:AChang (WMF) who can advise you further about surveys.
- I hope that helps. Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 01:44, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Quiddity (WMF) and AChang (WMF): Hello! I know about the research that was done on Korean and Czech Wikipedia and I read the whole document but we still wanted to have some direct feedback from Slovak users (it is worth noting that the user base on Czech and Slovak Wikipedia is quite different, so the reasons might also vary). We thoughtfully considered the content of the mentioned form and thus I want to ask how we can make it happen. If the platform is a problem, we can do it at some different one that WMF uses (I was looking at how surveys are being done in Wikimedia movement before but couldn't find anything). --Luky001 (talk) 16:33, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

- Since even Wikimedia Foundation uses Google Forms for their survey and inserts link to that survey into the Wikipedia Android App (picture attached), would it be possible to do this banner the same? Under the bigger headline text there would be the disclaimer about our Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy so that we make sure everything is legally ok. We (Wikimedians of Slovakia) use G-Suite for our cloud, the same as the Foundation does. That is why it is convenient for us to do it all in the same system, as it is convenient for the Foundation. What do you think? --Luky001 (talk) 09:43, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Luky001: I've put together a banner you can see here. I need a translation for the following sentence: This survey powered by a third-party service; please see the survey privacy statement. Seddon (WMF) (talk) 02:47, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Seddon (WMF): Táto anketa beží v službe tretej strany; pozrite si jej vyhlásenie o ochrane súkromia. --Luky001 (talk) 19:43, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Seddon (WMF): How does it look with the banner? I am not saying we need to rush it but our project is increasing its delay due to the banner matters... --Luky001 (talk) 19:32, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
