Project

I would like to conduct a user survey of Scholia users. Scholia is a Wikidata front-end which supports users in accessing WikiCite content. WikiCite is the single most popular project within Wikidata by a number of metrics, including by count of Wikidata items, count of university partnerships running Wikidata programs, and count of events organized for a single concept. Briefly, it Scholia is a Wikidata project in good standing which is as well known to the Wikidata community as any other.

My Commitment

I accept the limitations and data protection notes of Wikimedia Italia written in Wikimedia Italia/LimeSurvey. For example I will NOT sue Wikimedia Italia if they delete everything by mistake.

I see that the default commitment which Wikimedia Italia is requesting is, "I will make every effort not to collect personal data, unless I have legal obligations to collect them. In case, I clearly detail why personal data is needed, and for what purpose."

Yes to attempting ethical research practices
This survey includes optional requests for wiki user name and email address. Users who are concerned with privacy should not give this information. Our reason for asking for this information is to identify very active users and potential collaborators whom we do not already know. We would like to offer collaboration and tool support to such people.

Description

Scholia is a free and open-source tool for accessing linked open data on scholarly matters from Wikidata. It can be explored via https://scholia.toolforge.org/. The Scholia team is seeking feedback from Scholia users. This survey will typically take 15 minutes to complete. The survey will end after 2 months or receiving 200 responses, whichever comes first. Survey results will be made available via https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_Scholia/Surveys/2024 before 2025-06-16.

This is fine! At https://github.com/WDscholia/scholia/issues/2548 I wrote "What is missing in Scholia?" (optional, free text). Other questions could be "How would you rate Scholia?"
