Survey introduction
The following text will be on the landing page of the survey
Welcome!
With this survey, the 2030 Movement Brand Project team invites your feedback on proposals for movement names based on our best-known brand, Wikipedia. The proposed names apply to the movement, the affiliates and the Foundation. No changes are being proposed to the wiki project names or designs. Your input will help determine which elements of the different proposals should be removed, refined and recombined to create a proposal that will move to the design phase.
About the 2030 Movement Brand Project
Our free knowledge projects are created by a global movement. Since 2003, we have used the term "Wikimedia" to refer to this movement. The 2030 Movement Brand Project is creating a proposal for movement names and designs based on our best-known brand, Wikipedia. The names and designs generated by the project will be presented to the Board of Trustees. If approved, they will be offered to affiliates to opt in and will be used by the Wikimedia Foundation.
This survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Answers may be provided in any language. Data will be made anonymous for individual respondents and published on Meta-Wiki, along with a report synthesizing the data.
This survey will be open from 16 June - 7 July.
For more information see the project page on Meta-Wiki or email brandproject wikimedia.org.
Thank you for your time!

Survey evaluation
The survey intends to collect and compare hundreds, ideally thousands, of perspectives on the proposed naming options. It is a chance to remove options that do not work, to refine things that are promising but incomplete, and recombine elements from across the “options” that respondents highlight. In all, the survey is an input for developing a new movement naming.
Evaluating the survey results will adhere to the following approach:
- Names to remove - Will be identified by consistent low ranking in the “choice ranking” section. The project team will examine which naming options are consistently marked down and review the comments + scoring to assess if there are any elements to salvage from the low-ranked proposal.
- Names to refine - Will be identified by repeated questions, concerns, and comments for clarification.
- Names to recombine - Will be identified by repeated highlights, selections, and endorsements on specific terms, even among naming convention proposals that are marked for removal.
The explicit level (e.g. how many people ranked this choice lowest) for removal will not be known until the survey is complete. In brief, the lowest ranked proposal will be removed. The top ranked proposal(s) will be carried forward. The project team will work to synthesize all endorsed elements into a single naming proposal to carry in to design work.
