Wikimedia Community of Saint Petersburg User Group/bn
Wikimedia Community of Saint Petersburg User Group (Группа участников «Сообщество викимедийцев Санкт-Петербурга»; SPU) is a group of people interested in various topics related with St. Petersburg, Russia, across all Wikimedia projects in all languages.
Objectives
- Enhance the content in Wikimedia projects about and for St. Petersburg
- Facilitating the navigation of St. Petersburg for tourists by using Wikimedia projects.
- Group all Wikimedians living in St. Petersburg.
- Promotion of St. Petersburg related topics in different languages.
- Establishment partnerships between the Wikimedia community and various cultural, science, educational, and media organizations based in St.Petersburg.
- Support and promotion "Wikimedian in Residence" initiative in St.Petersburg.
- Cooperating with local authorities, organizations, and individuals to receive grants and other materials to promote free knowledge in St. Petersburg.
- Working on the Creative Commons contents for Wikimedia Commons.
- Involving in GLAM.

- Organizing article contests and thematic weeks about topics related to St.Petersburg.
- Organizing wiki-excursions and other events for establishments relationship between the community and cultural institutions based in St.Petersburg.
- Massive Open Online Courses in Russian.
- Partnership with schools of the city to install the Wikimedia education program.
Future activities
- wiki meetups in St.Petersburg (monthly)
- set up a partnership with schools of the city to install the Wikimedia education program (the school is already selected).
- start the Massive Open Online Courses of lingua Libre in Russian
- take part in the french contribution month (workshops and contests for one month).
- start GLAM project
- organize the first Wikimedia conference in the city
- participate in all accessible conferences that we can
ইতিহাস
- First wiki-meetup in Russia was organized by Wikimedians from St. Petersburg on May 1, 2005
- Wiki-project "St. Petersburg" in the Russian Wikipedia was started on May 6, 2006
- First Wiki-Conference in Russia also was held in St. Petersburg on Oct 27-28, 2007.
- Since then, more than 50 wiki meetings have been held in St. Petersburg.
- We were before active with the name of Wikimedians of Saint Petersburg User Group, but because of disengagement of the contact persons, we have been derecognized.
