Wikimania 2016 bids/Manila/Accommodation
Mabuhay! • Manila • The PICC • Program • Getting here • Accommodation • Local team • Budget • Self-evaluation
A major factor in considering where to host Wikimania 2016 was the proximity of the venue to reasonably priced accommodation. In choosing the PICC, the bid team took into consideration its proximity to hotels and other accommodation in the area. While there are no student dormitories in the immediate vicinity of the venue, the general affordability of accommodation in Manila at all levels of comfort makes Wikimania more accessible to even more Wikimedians, and we look forward to working with the Wikimedia Foundation to find suitable accommodation for all attendees.
Nearby hotels
editThe PICC is near four major hotels.

Other accommodation
editManila is home to many different types of accommodation, and attendees may choose to stay anywhere else in the city. The bid team has foreseen that many attendees may, for many reasons, choose to stay in places further away from the venue, such as those near the Remedios Circle in Malate (where a lot of hostels are located), Makati, the area around the SM Mall of Asia and the like. To make it easier for attendees to get to and from the venue and avoid having to deal with Manila traffic, the bid team is looking into shuttling attendees between the PICC and those areas by bus and/or air-conditioned jeepney to common drop-off points in potential areas with large numbers of attendees.
