I hope you are well! My name is Tyler Thornton, and I am a member of the team from the Bridgespan Group that is working with the Wikimedia Foundation on its strategic planning process. Our team is really interested in learning more about the Wikimedia community in Turkey, and Philippe Beaudette said you would be a great person to speak with. Translate some names for hundreds software projects including MediaWiki

Hello, I'm writing you because you subscribed to a Language support team. As you know, Wikimedia projects exist in almost 300 languages; supporting them all is a big effort so we partner with other organisations. One small but visible thing we miss is that many interwiki links in sidebar (among others) don't offer a translation of the language name when hovered. We're now able to translate 100 more language names in your language.

If you're interested, I can create you an account to submit translations on the CLDR web tool (within June 14): please send an email to ask one and I'll follow up with instructions. Unblock request

Your deletion requests on Incubator

First, thanks very much. None of the admins speak Turkish (at least at 3-level or better), and the test has no test-admins. I appreciate your finding those issues—especially the copyvios. Do feel free to stop by periodically and look in on that test!

I didn't delete two of the pages.

• One (the page with the person's notes and links) I moved to a subpage of his user page, and made sure the link on his user page had the proper new target. That user hasn't been around in a couple of years, so it may have been for nothing. But there was no reason we couldn't retain his/her notes that way.
• The "Afrika" page. Look, this test project has been pretty dormant for a while, but my first inclination on this page is to ask you or someone in the community to adapt what is already there before I completely delete it. Is that just a complete waste of time—better to start from scratch—or is there a chance someone would tackle it? StevenJ81 (talk) 15:56, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

@StevenJ81: Thank you for going through all this trouble and explaining your actions. I appreciate this.

The "Notes" page consisted of a subheader called "Useful links" and some links that might come in handy. Since its title was so specific, I had tagged it for deletion. A move is, of course, a great idea. Thank you for this. The user is around, he was actually my last ping before yours. :) I'll talk to him about reinvigorating the project.

As for the "Africa" page, whatever's on that page at the moment has been copied from w:tr:Afrika (the WP article includes everything that the WY article has - verbatim, that is - and much more), so we will not be losing any content with this deletion. The style is encyclopaedic, and is out of scope for WY. There is nothing do work with in the article, but let me pledge that I'll translate two good paragraphs in order to have a solid foundation to work on. A small step for me, a giant leap for our tiny project. :)

I plan to start creating content steadily (albeit slowly) once I am done going through the existing material. It's always healthier to have a rock-solid foundation to build on.

Once you've been contributing steadily for a month or so—I tell everyone that so everyone gets used to the peculiarities of Incubator, most notably prefixes—make a request at I:RFTA for test-admin status. Adım geçmiş de. Kullanıcının beyaz liste hakkını süresiz bir şekilde almadım. Son 1-2 sene öncesine kadar çevirdiği maddeler biraz sıkıntı. Son çevirdiği maddelerde sıkıntı yok. İncelemediğim şeye niye yorum yapayım? İstediğin şey botla madde açmaksa, elbette onu yap. İş yapmak isteyene ket vurmanın pek faydasını görmüyorum. Trwiki'de şu an için doğru işler yapıyor, o da benim için yeterli. Vandalizmle ilişkili bir şey yapmadığı için de beyaz listede olmalı, evet.

Beyaz listeyi sadece vandalizm ile bağdaştırmışsın. Tanım olarak beyaz liste "Devriyelik onayı ve Sürüm Kontrolü onayından geçmesine gerek olmayan, değişiklikleri otomatik olarak onaylanan kullanıcıların yer aldığı kullanıcı grubudur." şeklinde geçiyor. Kullanıcıyı iyi niyetli/kötü niyetli diye ayırıp niyet okuyamam, ama oluşturduğu sayfaların kesinlikle sürüm kontrolü onayından geçmesi gerektiğini savunuyorum. Buraya taşınmasaydı haberim bile olmayacaktı belki de bu kullanıcının varlığından. Sürüm kontrolünden geçmediği sürece belki diğer çoğu aktif devriyenin de açılan maddelerden haberi olmayacak, belki açtığı maddeler gelecekte M9'dan silinecek, nereden biliyoruz? "Sürüm Kontrolü onayı" denen şey vandalizm kontrolü olduğu için dediğime çıkıyor zaten o ibare de. RfC'de de yazdığım gibi, Dünya Vatandaşı da tr-0. x-0 olmak ayıp değil, aksine benim takdir etmeme neden oluyor. Diğer vikilerde uygunsuz hareket ettiğinin farkındayım, ancak bize yarar sağlıyor ve bekleyen değişiklikler zaten şişkinken onu da o yığına eklemenin bir gereği yok. Özellikle son değişiklikleri de gayet düzgünken.
