Admin Abuse

Romihaitza, A group of editors and admins refuse to allow a balance of material and links. Gamaliel, Robert McClenon, Jpgordon, JamesMLane, and a few others now own the pages. Any attempts to modify the page is met by thier gang edits. They allow only links to pro kennedy sites, none to negative sites regardless of the wealth of content they may provide. They push their pov on all of the Kennedy pages. It's because of editors and admins like these that Wikipedia is doubted as a source. ie; the New York Times published policy against Wiki as a source. The group refuses to agree to consensus when it is against them. I've now been blocked by Jpgordon in an abuse of admin priv. My act was not vandalism, it's simply not agreeing with their one sided pov. I am not willing to endure any more arb or mediation. Partial results

Hi, I have a remark about the "Partial results" list. I am not comfortable whit that list. Like it is now it looks like this is an competition, like a sports event. That should not be like that. Users can declare that the are willing offer there service to the community in the function of steward. The community can give the support or disapproval for that offer. Finally it is up to the board to decide what the will do whit the offers of assistance.

Sysop en:Mikkalai had used his admin power to block a contributor in an outrageous attempt. Sysop en:Mikkalai engaged in an edit war, then he blocked the opponents. The blocked user made only a single edit [[1]]. Still en:Mikkalai didn't reached consensus and was asked to stop the edit war [[2]] by two other users. Still he blocked the user en:user:86.106.51.95. There was also posted a notice on http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia%3AAdministrators%27_noticeboard&diff=36558375&oldid=36557182 Wikipedia Administrator's noticeboard a message that concludes very good the bad behaviour of sysop en:Mikkalai. The reason given by mikka is "blocking with an expiry time of 24 hours (offense)". Still there is not an offense in the edit [[[[3]]. Why didn't explain sysop en:Mikkalai what is the offense that he thinks it is?

There is one more important aspect: en:Mikkalai is well known for having Anti-Romanian feelings, he was even blocked once for that reason: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=block&user=&page=User%3AMikkalai.

A desysoped should be just fine. Let the people free of this en:Anti-Romanian contributor.

Hi there! I've requested for bureaucrat status and bs.wiktionary.org on the meta Requests for persmission page and you responded by saying that I should create a local request page. I have created that page at [5]. The page is based on the Croatian one. In the future the page will be in the native language. I noticed you updated the list of inactive stewards; thanks for doing that! I did notice, however, that two entries were off:

• Danny last used his steward access on July 3rd, and had used it quite a bit before that. Daniel Mayer (mav), on the other hand, hasn't used his since Jan. 17th.

• Fantasy slipped in with one on July 6th; did you discount that one, or did he/she get it in after you checked?

Your abuse

De-sysop should follow fair rules - in every wiki. I was made sys-op ("Histo") in de.Wikiquote to kill copyvios. The community has begun and finished the voting against me in my vacancies (I was in Spain not having the possibilty to defend me in an appropriate manner). It is clear that this is not a fair procedure. It is also clear that it is not allowed to strike the contra-vote of the bureaucrat because he has not enough contributions! There was a lot of support for me from Wikipedians and users who are not long enough in the project due to the ad-hoc-voting conditions (200 contributions in the article namespace). Stewards on IRC

Hi, I am posting this to the talk page of all stewards. I am user:Walter, steward. It came to the attention that it is for users who urgently need the assistance of a steward it is not always easy to find one. I am posting this to ask your help to try to improve our service to the community.

The best hope I believe for a user to find a steward is IRC I think. There is a channel for the stewards , #wikimedia-stewards but there very few stewards there mostly if any.

So my first request is that when you are online and have time to also open the channel #wikimedia-stewards That can easy and even automatically depending of your IRC-client. Two suggestions; Gaim, you can add IRC-channels and users between your MSN, Jabber and other contacts. Very easy to use. Or chatZilla, more a real IRC program.

You can also use a webbased solution. Can also be useful when you are not at home. The IRC gateway I have setup will do its work for this purpose. http://chat.wikizine.org.

Finaly; You have your real name, your wikimedia user name and some have a totally different IRC name. I have created a new column on Stewards#Active_stewards to fill in your IRC-nick , if you are on IRC offcource. I have already filled it in for some who I know.

Greek wikisource beaurocrats

Hi!

In March there was a request for sysoping User:Lou@elwiktionary [9]. There was a formal request link: wikt:el:Wiktionary:Ο ιστοχώρος της κοινότητας with support from two users.

Below the previous local request User:Ank@elwiktionary requested for beaurocrat rights, but as you can see there was no support for this. User:Ank is listed as Bureaucrat, Steward (!), Sysop having be granted these rights by you. I question why you gave these rights to a user with limited contributions on this wiki without any consensus. Even after 8 months he has less than 100 edits [10] while other users have thousands. Although Ank is a beaurocrat also in el.wikipedia he has limited activity on both projects, but at least in wikipedia there are more beaurocrats. Now the problem is that the only active sysop in el.wiktionary is Lou, and he asks for more sysops but there is no active beaurocrat to give them rights. Since his beaurocratship, Ank has been in wiktionary only twice. You gave beaurocrat rights to an inactive user. I suggest you correct the mistake and clear the problem, granting beaurocrat rights to Lou, who is the only active sysop and most active user. Probably you will need to clear that "steward" flag from Ank too. --Geraki 09:24, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[Stewards] - a new steward election will be held soon. The most likely date for the election to start is 25th of November. This date can still change. Like it is now all existing stewards will need to reapply if they wish to remain steward. The rules of this procedure are still under discussion. Hello Paginazero, you desysoped another vandal on Moldovan Wikipedia here. Now, I would like you to desysop another one, who was not accepted by community and replaced Epure.

Facts:

- there is already an elected sysop on Mo.wp so we don’t need this German Admin (mo:User:Pill)

- mo:User:Pill must be de-sysopped for abuse of administrative privileges and employing eliminating methods

- nobody asked him to request temporary sysop rights, he’s not accepted by community

• Removal of valid vote procedure for a new Administrator and CheckUser

Blocks of innocent contributors

• Block of mo:User:Alec

I don’t think Alec deserved to be blocked and certainly his comments were not irrelevant to the fact that this Admin abuses his administrative privileges

Here's a question: what does Pill think he's doing? Here, my opinion on Epure's suitability for bureaucratship and another comment were deleted for what reason exactly? Here, a comment by en:User:Dahn is similarly deleted. So what is this ultimately, a rigged poll, any opinion Pill does not like is simply deleted? Here, User:Alec is blocked for two weeks for supposed "irrelevant comments on Wikipedia:Кандидаць" - since when is that a criterion for blocking? Does anyone else think Pill is going too far - I propose a petition for de-sysopment. As far as I can see, Pill is following the shining example of his predecessors User:Node ue and User:Epure (likely both the same person); both can't say anything beyond a couple of phrases in Romanian/Moldovan and both were de-sysopped for abuse of administrative privileges and employing methods used in Soviet Moldova for getting their way. Let's watch now as Pill deletes this comment under some similar frivolous excuse - let's see how well he responds to criticism and complaints of what I consider legitimate grievances.

There is no place for further engagement of Pill there. Pill must quit and leave or will ask again a petition against him. He removed it last time but now he will be under supervision of Stewards. I asked him to leave or else he will be de-sysoppped. You should de-sysop now, because we can't stand such injustice from Pill. He can't communicate with us since he doesn't speak the language. Moldovan Wikipedia

Votes in Romanian Wikipedia

A vote has been organized be the Romanian Wikipedia, suggesting that the only applicable ortography should be the one approved by the Romanian Academy and excluding all other spellings, in particular those officially used in Moldova (with the latin alphabet). I have made my objections known however the vote has still been organized.

My objection relies on the fact that, if, at present Moldavian and Romanian are considered to be the same language, then both spellings have to be acceptable, just as they are in English, where there is no supremacy of British English over American English or vice-versa. However, if only one of the spellings is deemed acceptable, it is logical to assume that the other language is entitled to its own dictionaries.

While the vote is presented as a simple problem of unification of spelling, it actually creates a discrimination towards part of the Romanian speeking population. There may be other Romanian speeking populations abroad in Vojvodina, the Timoc Valley, the Ucraine and even the United States, who claim to use Romanian and may also follow their own spelling rules. I therefore consider the vote as a tentative to promote a discrimination, which should be contrary to the Wikipedia policy. Also, if approved, it raises the question of approving the creation of a separate Moldovan or Moldovan Romanian Wikipedia.

As you seem to have been involved in issues regarding the Moldovan Wikipedia, you might want to look into the matter, before a decision is taken which could have far reaching repercussions. Personally, when statistically several millions of Romanian speeking persons are living abroad, I consider it a very restrictive policy to impose such rules, even a limitation of the freedom of expressions, which is hardly Wikipedia policy. Besides, I consider if Moldovan spelling is not acceptable for the Romanian Wikipedia, a Moldovan Wikipedia should be approved ASAP. It is very unfair to deny some users the right to use their own version, if they have had this right until now.

I am willing to cooperate in any way you deem useful to solve this problem.
