RE: candidates statement -please clarifyEdit

Hi Ofrahod: I mean this kind of scavenger hunt and free content photography contest like "Wikipedia takes Manhattan" (which I think was the first one). In our case, in spanish the literal "Wikipedia takes..." doesn't sound that well, so we called them "Wikipedia invades..." (like "Wikipedia invades La Plata Natural History Museum").Patricio.lorente 09:54, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi Ofrahod. more than 90% page views come from search engines. But search engines prioritize English results or other majority languages results no mater if there is an article of highest quality in the mother tongue of the reader. The technical proposal is guess the mother tongue of the reader and make the interwiki links to articles to this language more prominent. Equivalent expressions of "greater focus on local language interwikis" coud be "make interwikies to reader's language more prominent" or "give more visibility to interwikies to the local language of the territory from where the consult is being done"... --Gomà 19:37, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Got you. Thanks. Ofrahod 20:00, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks to you for your great job. --Gomà 20:25, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Hello/Shalom, sorry I am really ashamed to know so little Hebrew (just this and lekhaim!)... Thanks for your work and sorry about the delays my statement creates. Millars is the original name in Catalan while Millas is the official one (in French), the IPA would be [mi'ʎas] (just in case though I think you probably know the sign, the lambda is some kind of -l- + yod), and well I just made some kind of pun since "sorely" comes from "sore", sorry to impose you this, it might be difficult to translate, just say they do not appreciate me if it is easier for you; you have too much work and I do not want you to lose too much time on my statement. So then again, thank you very much for your work and my deepest apologies if my statement causes you (so much) trouble. Take care, I wish you all the best personally and for the Wikimania that I hope will be really successful! Bye, Claudi Balaguer/Capsot 17:03, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Help translate!Edit

Change in translationsEdit

Hi, and thank you for your activity with fundraiser translations so far!! I have one small request to make: We had to change three of the appeals; the change is the same in all of them, and the replacement text is quite short, so I don't want to e-mail people just to fix that, and that's why I'm asking you instead. It would be great if you could do the following fixes in Hebrew:

Since these are small changes you don't have to go through the cycle of having it proofread and everything, unless you are unsure about the translation. Thanks in advance. :-) Jon Harald Søby (WMF) 05:21, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi Jon, I made the required changes. Please note that Jimmy's letter 002 still says 420 million. Ofrahod 06:50, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Research:Wikipedia Editors Survey November 2011/heEdit

I've made an initial "rough and dirty" Hebrew translation to the November Survey. Please feel free to edit it as you see fit. I hope to have time to further edit it in the next few days. Best, Oyoyoy 18:57, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

I reviewed your translation and marked the whole thing "ready". The changes I made were mostly structural but quite extensive. If you have time, it wouldn't hurt if you further reviewed the page. Ofrahod 06:55, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
Good! I made a few more minor changes. I agree that it is ready. Oyoyoy 06:53, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Fundraising 2011/Jimmy Letter 003/heEdit

If you have any spare time, it would be nice if you could proofread Jimmy's letter. Best, Oyoyoy 06:53, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Just did, and marked ready. Made some changes. Hope I am not getting too playful with this text, but better playful than bored. Ofrahod 07:41, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

כל הכבודEdit

אני רואה שאת עובדת קשה...   Oyoyoy 05:06, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

כן, הייתי חרוצה אתמול... וגם אתה! תודה על ההגהות והעריכות. Ofrahod 07:01, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!Edit

Hi! I just want to thank you and give you this barnstar for your help with the translation of the 2011 fundraiser! The fundraiser was the best we ever had, both in terms of the amount we collected and in terms of number of translations. We couldn't have done either one without the help we got from you and other translators. If you are interested, we made a report, which has some statistics about the translations.

And: I have one more request, and that is that you take this survey. You may have got an e-mail about it, and if you did, please ignore this. But if you didn't it would be great if you would take this survey too, so we can learn to improve the translation experience.

Again, thanks for your help with translations – you're awesome! Jon Harald Søby (WMF) 14:28, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

English/Hebrew translationsEdit

Dear Ofrahod, I am contacting you to introduce myself. My name is Jessica Robell and I have recently joined the Wikimedia Foundation as a part of the fundraising team. My work will be focused to a large extent around translations. I am very interested in finding engaged Wikipedians, such as yourself, who would be interested in contributing with their time to translate shorter text from English to Hebrew. I know that you have been an active translator for the fundraising campaign previous years and I would be most grateful to get your support also this year. To begin with, we have for example recently put up a 'Thank you letter' from the Wikimedia Foundation's ED Sue Gardner for translation, using the translation extension. You can find the letter here:

Furthermore, in addition to using the translation extension, my aim is to develop a few personal contacts to whom I can reach out with potential questions regarding a particular word choice etc. As an engaged Wikipedia translator, I would be very interested in hearing your view on this.

Thank you very much for your support. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards, Jessica Robell Global Fundraising Coordinator Jrobell (talk) 11:54, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
