Request to create a banner edit

Hello Jseddon,

The photography contest Wiki Loves Earth organized last May is nominated for the "web event of the year" of the 9th edition of Morocco Web Awards

http://marocwebawards.com/mwa9/wiki-loves-earth-morocco/

Is it possible to create a banner for a 7-day period at CentralNotice to encourage people to vote ?

Re: documenting all of the different community community uses of SiteNotice edit

Hopefully easier than you'd think: I've been tracking promotion of from the projects' interface for a while at Microblogging handles and Facebook pages. Nemo 22:47, 19 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello, on the French WP Village Pump I answered that the reason why the banner text is in English is because it is not a translatable message name between {{{}}}. Since I see you are the most recent contributor who modified this campaign, could you possibly also make the text translatable, and use in French the equivalent of "Let’s take Wikipedia to the Moon!" according to the end of Wikipedia to the Moon/fr, that is: Emmenons Wikipédia sur la Lune ! Thank you. Oliv0 (talk) 15:29, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

CN request page edit

Hi! Just a quick note as I will look deeper into your proposal when I caught up all todos from my sickness: In User:Jseddon (WMF)/CentralNotice/Request, a question on overlapping campaigns could be added. That will on the hand force campaign leads to look into the current calender for a better preparation and will on the other hand reduce overlapping campaigns. Further, I'm not sure whether support and oppose votes are really helpful here; the goal of these discussion should be valuable feedback (as you surely know, polls are evil ;-D). Otherwise I could imagine a useful campaign that could be boycotted by some small community group. Cheers, Martin Rulsch (WMDE) (talk) 12:50, 9 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hey Martin Rulsch, So I agree that it shouldn't be a poll. This is very much about feedback and constructive feedback at that. I'd ideally like to try and get some sort of process in place by the end of the month even if we just see it as version one of many iterations. If you could provide some input it would be hugely appreciated :) Jseddon (WMF) (talk) 16:49, 12 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Fundraising translation edit

Hello

Where are the translations? I wish to make correction to the Hungarian translation. It's incorrectly says that 1 cup of coffee costs 500 HUF in Hungary (it's 1.72 USD). The banner asks for 500 HUF donation as an example for "1 cup of coffee". --Misibacsi (talk) 14:15, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Header edit

Hey Seddon. Can you add "check the guidelines" or add a reference about the guidelines in one of the headers on the centralnotice request page. They were updated recently, and I see half the request not taking any of the guidelines in consideration. Also, something should be added about showing/seeking local consensus for requests. We really haven't asked to see local consensus much, even when it had been written in the original guidelines for years. French wikipedia had a recent situation where the community objected because there was no local discussion or request - I think some addition along those lines should be made on the request page itself, about local consensus while giving more prominence to the guidelines. Thanks. Theo10011 (talk) 16:19, 28 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Theo10011 Hey Theo, Firstly thanks for starting the conversation regarding guidelines for CN campaigns and banners. I'll be chiming into that conversation today or tomorrow. Regarding local consensus, I think that it's one of the requirements that has gone by the wayside somewhat over the years. For now it is realistically only advocacy that we would force a formal RfC at the projects in question.
My thinking was that as part of the request process, we should perhaps include some sort of requirement to notify local communities of the discussion. And simply establish consensus on the actual request. We should take this discussion to the central notice talk page though. It's an important one to have there. @Jidanni: Nope :) Just notifying users who have been successful here. Jseddon (WMF) (talk) 00:44, 12 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, oops. I only read the first few lines. P.S., the changelog entry shows the /* previous subject */, as does the mail to users watching the page. Thus it resembles 90% of spam hacks... Jidanni (talk) 00:49, 12 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
And, just like you say email to us, you should just email them the notice, or at least turn off notifications to all the other people watching their page. Jidanni (talk) 00:51, 12 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
